"Superb Sound and Battery" on by djzoohelp

Pros: The Clear Bass enhancement, Battery, Clean Clean Sound

Cons: No tuner, no voice recorder - I don't care

Summary: I've had an Ipod Nano, Creative Zen, Archos 20, and bunch of various lesser known units. The Nano's audio had no depth. The Zen and Archos had very nice sound quality. However, these new Sony's are amazing. Right up there with the audio quality of their old minidisc players. Even better considering the new Clear Bass settings.

I have no idea how their "clear bass" feature works, but it is absolutely stellar. Very solid, well damped, and completely independant from the highs. Adjusting this feature upward does not affect the clarity of the treble in any way. I can't overstress how clean and full the sound is.

The more surprising part is the quality of their earbuds. I'm a headphone nut. I've got Shure se530's, e3c's, Senn 280 Pros, and others. The included headphones impress - and not subtly. Don't get me wrong, my 530's shine, but these come very reasonably close in terms of pure sound quality even if they don't offer much isolation (not necessarily a bad thing). I hear lots of detail with the included buds and I can imagine them becoming my first casual choice around the house, gardening, etc.

Overall, I'm very, very pleased. I just wish Windows Media Player could become as seemless as iTunes for paid downloads, but that's a different discussion. By the way, I have no affiliation with Sony whatsoever, I just like these particular models that much.

    You won't regret this one!

"Incredible for such a small package!" on by dmperfection101

Pros: Extraordinary sound, vibrant color screen, and studio quality customizations. It's small and lightweight, perfect for exercising, or just carrying around in your pocket.

Cons: Price; I thought it was expensive at just over $100 for a 4gb unit, when I paid just over $200 for an 80gb Classic iPod. Window$ Media Player to transfer music; never a big fan of Media Player.

Summary: An absolutely great unit; decent amount of space, lightweight, and great sound; although price was an issue for me, the sound quality made up for it, and don't even care about the price anymore. Again, vibrant color screen that doesn't disappoint.
