"very handy USB MP3 player which sounds great"
Pros: stunning sound; charges from my PC; small size; starts very very quickly; handy as a pen drive for my PC; can wear it round my neck
Cons: I'm going to loose the cap one day when I'm charging this player; can't delete files so not good for podcasts; can't drag and drop music files to this (have to use Sonic stage);
Summary: (I have the 4GB version)
I've had a few MP3 players and using loseless ATTRAC files on this player sound better than Lame MP3 and OGG files (ok not quite fair as they aren't loseless). However, the loseless ATTRAC files don't seem to take up that much room (compared to WAV!). I got this player for a very cheap price. I read the reviews and I was dreading using Sonic Stage. However, I didn't find it that hard - insert CD or select folder to import; import; transfer files!
The small size of the player means a small screen so it's hard to see everything that's on the player (Quite often I use the cover flow option to view album covers and select based on the album cover). Also, you can't view the players contents without changing the file you are listening to.
I find this player ideal for albums/tracks that I listen to on a regular basis. I have a couple of players and this is the one I always have with me. The sound quality is better than the iRiver Clix 2 and Creative Zen Nano V plus (admittedly differnt file formats and compression options). It's a great pen drive; I can charge from my laptop directly and I've installed a couple of applications on this player, which I can run directly from any PC.
