"NOT a good player for the gym" on by Bladeder

Pros: Sound quality, easy to use

Cons: No armband or belt clip, too easy to turn on and off.

Summary: When I saw the product review that said this was a "solid choice for the gym" I about died. The only reason I use an MP3 player is for the gym - I can't work out without my tunes, and I've had quite a few MP3 players. This players comes with no armband or belt clip. There's no way to really keep it with you unless you put it in your pocket. BIG DRAWBACK. Because of the design, the on/off/pause button is way too easy to press as you're fishing through your pocket trying to get a hold of the thing so you can adjust the volume or fast forward to a different song. I found absolutely no available jacket or case for this device except one that Sony makes that is like a hard shell but it had no armband or clip so I'm not sure what the purpose of buying it would be. I've looked and looked for a generic type of arm band or clip that the thing would fit into but have had no luck. For this reason, I regret buying this player. The other thing that bugs me is the cover for the USB plug looks like it would fall off without much effort so I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before mine is cap-less. I had a Sansa player before this which came with an armband and which I was able to buy a belt clip for and I loved it. Unfortunately, I lost it at the gym so I ran out and bought this one thinking it looked nice and small and the price was right, and it had potential if only there was some way I could attach it to my clothing so I could access the buttons easier. Not all my gym shorts even have pockets -- I'll have to carry it in around in my hand! If you're buying one for the gym, this is NOT the one to get.

"Great little mp3 player!" on by worlm004

    Pros: 1. Small
    2. Cute
    3. Easy to use
    4. Great sound quality
    5. FM radio with record feature

Cons: They're aren't a lot of options out there for carrying this thing around.

Summary: I noticed a lot of complaints about using this mp3 player at the gym because it does not offer an armband or carrying case, however there is a loophole in the back of this device (just like a cellphone would normally have) which allows you to hook a ringlet through it and attach that to a lanyard. They sell plenty of mp3 lanyards online, and this allows you to simply wear your music around your neck. I actually prefer this to an armband! It's perfect for working out at the gym now, as it is hands free! Sony sold accessories for this particular model which included an armband and several lanyards in a variety of colors, however they are now discontinued, but you still may be able to find them on Ebay. That's how I got mine!

"Only lasted 6 monthes" on by damrods

    Pros: Small, good sound

Cons: Only lasted 6 monthes and then they want me to spend $29 to get it replaced by a refurbished model. I thought sony was good stuff. WRONG!!!

Summary: Lasted a whole six monthes and warranty sucks!!!

"Lacks the one feature I needed most (shuffle)." on by lharrisonwest

Pros: Cheap. Covers most of the basics.

Cons: The shuffle feature doesn't really work!

Summary: I bought this MP3 player as a replacement for my mother's old mp3 player. The one thing she really wanted was an mp3 player that could shuffle songs. I thought this one would do the trick (after all, shuffle is now considered a pretty standard feature), however, the shuffle feature isn't truly random (as another reviewer pointed at). Not only does this player seem to play shuffled songs in the same order every time, it also starts back at the beginning of the "shuffled" song series every time you turn it off!!! In other words, if this mp3 player is on shuffle and it plays songs 5, 8, 44, 132, 2, and then you turn it off, it will start with song 5 again when you turn it back on and continue with the same 5, 8, 44, 132, 2... progression. Ridiculous. I'm really disappointed that Sony couldn't get this basic feature right. If you don't care about shuffle, its probably a decent mp3 player for a novice. I will probably be returning the one I bought.
