"premature repeat failures with this model..." on by stevespears1
Pros: i like the Sony Walkman line. My wife and I have 2 of them. they sound great, much better than Apple ipod, The user interface is very good. Battery life is very good.
Cons: Unreliable, required replacement twice in 6 months.
Summary: My wife's walkman required replacement twice. The player would just stop working. I plugged it into the USB cord, the screen shows charging, then full charge within seconds. Left it plugged up all night, the next day it would not play a note. I called customer service and they took me through the RESET procedure and even downloaded new software to the Walkman, to no avail. the second failure is identical to the first.
I recommend people avoid purchase of the NWZ-E436F Walkman. I have owned a NWZ-S738 for about a year, and it has been flawless. Unfortunately it seems like the S738 is now discontinued. -
"needs to keep up with technology" on by x-pinkglass

Summary: good mp3 player. not so great after a year or so. mine restarts itself and it doesn't connect to my computer. only after resetting

"Great Device but Limited Shuffle Playback" on by HoeneSpringMike
Pros: Compact, light weight and very precise playback of podcasts and music. I don't use it for videos so I can't judge that aspect of the video side. EQ is very precise with no distortion on my cheap ear pods or headphones.
Cons: In Shuffle mode, I get the last few songs that I have triggered by hand in reverse order. I have about 125 on the device, most never get played in Shuffle mode.
Summary: This is the only portable music device I have or have used with any frequency so I can't say much that hasn't been already said.

"stylish, and inexpensive but......" on by happyhiker123
Pros: stylish and small
Cons: i use it for audio books when walking; however, once I stop the book with the pause button, the next day it does not keep the place where i left off. Would love to hear from anyone who can tell me how to stop the reading when done for the day.

"The worlds best Potable media player" on by Calvini82
Pros: I really liked the easy and friendly user interface. The display was very nice and bright, crisp and clear so viewing images and videos was great and was way better that the IPod Nano 4th/5th generations display. Also great extra features are offered.
Cons: Their is no Mac support. And the memory options are low: 2gb, 4gb,8gb, no bluetooth also.
Summary: This Sony NWZ-E438F Walkman is a great pocket sized portable entertainment device that can easily blend into our everyday life and connect with our style. Great audio and visual quality. This Sony Walkman has 45 hours of music battery or 8 hours of video battery so it has a super long battery life. And the Sony NWZ-E438F Walkman is so so much more better than the IPod Nano in my opinion. So if you are looking for a great portable media player that has loads of features and does not cost you lots of money, than this is what your looking for.
NOTE: I copied and pasted my review from my one about the Sony NWZ-E436 8GB to the Sony NWZ-E436 4GB <this one>
