"Buy it if you get it for less than $100. Otherwise not recommended"

    by pvkrishna76 on April 25, 2007

Pros: Very good LCD Screen & Sound Quality, Handy, Useful Storage, Photo viewer, gud battery life

Cons: Clumsy Interface, no FM, not user friendly, no recording, no mode to watch movies, frustrating mp3.SAT extension, "gigabeat room" dependent, Need some diet pills - product is heavy, no bluetooth

Summary: First of all I'm satified with the performance for the price I paid. I got this for $99 and I feel it is worth it.
Now if you are about to pay more like $150 or more, then I do not recommend this product.
    Reasons:
    1. No FM/AM Radio
    2. You cant play movies
    3. Without Gigabeat Room software it is just A WASTE. Imagine carrying Software CD along with this product everywhere u go, looks like CD player rather than MP3 player.
    4. When .mp3 files are transferred from PC to F40, gigabeat sotware converts them to .SAT files and stores them in F40. When you want to save files from F40 to PC, then removing .SAT extensions is a Heck of a Job.
    5. There is no Drag and Drop or Edit options like Cut, Copy, Paste in Gigabeat room interface. In case you want to edit, swap files, then Switch back to USB plug n Play mode by opening in My Computer, edit the files & refresh F40 library in interface, making it really frustrating piece of sh**.
    6. Edit files in USB mode, F40 doesn't refresh automatically. Sucks when u play.
    7. Intricate menus. I went bonkers initially to understand the menus and buttons. PLUS button in the middle really is frustrating. Sometimes it takes the touch and sometimes no reaction.
    8. I have no idea why one thought of a sync cradle, when there is no specific reason why I should use it. ****
    9. Interface in F40 identifies entire 40GB as .mp3.SAT files (Photo files are an exception) so, if you placed any files thinking it as a storage device you cant see it, but u can operate on these files when u plug it through USB.
    10. No bluetooth, come on now... what a big deal in placing a bluetooth interface, a pebble to the pyramid ????
    11. Preset Equalizers are hopeless
    12. No voice recording..

Like this u see many more frustrating things when operating this sucker.

Well there are some gud features
    1. LCD Screen quality
    2. Sound Quality (Ignore Equalizers)
    3. Storage
    4. Battery life
    5. Photo Viewing options
    6. Though piece is little heavy, it is handy.. still need to improve

If u can drag ur butts on road to listen to mp3 music, by paying under $100 it is worth it, otherwise you are taking a painful step.
