"Looks good, be wary of future support" on by j_berman
Pros: Excellent design and craftsmanship
Cons: Support may be limited, non-expandable capacity
Summary: I purchased a Gigabeat S (60G)after CNET's rave reviews some time ago. Device is quite good (with the exception of many faulty battery issues)and the interface is excellent. However, support of the device disappeared almost immediately after shipping. Toshiba builds the Zune and the S model was quickly dispensed with once the Zune was released. Not a single accessory was made available for the proprietary docking interface. It will be interesting to see if the T-series gets better support.

"Gigabeat Is Shameful" on by x10acn
Pros: Sound Quality
Cons: Customer Service and Battery Life
Summary: I have had the Gigabeat MES30V for approximately 13 months. It was a good unit when it worked. There was a battery failure within the first month of ownership. While it was under warranty they did respond and replace the battery. The battery failed again this week. When I was finally able to find information about available service, I was informed that since it's outside the warranty it will cost $139.95 plus shipping to repair. When questioned about the expected life of the batteries in their products the gentleman that no such information exists. My suggestion to potential buyers is to look elsewhere for more reliable products. Toshiba had a worthy challenger to the iPod, but has ultimately failed to live up to the promise and hype.

"Be wary of lack of support from Toshiba" on by steve4922
Pros: great sound; elegant interface
Cons: hard drive sometime skips; complete lack of support from Toshiba
Summary: I second the other reviewers' caution about Toshiba's lack of support for its mp3 players. I own a 60G Gigabeat that I bought within the last few months, but, based on what you see on Toshiba's website, you'd think that Toshiba never sold such a 60 Gig player--no mention of it anywhere on the site, no support options at all, and no updated drivers for Vista or anything else.

"I hope they support this one" on by gnratnx
Pros: I don't own this particular model
Cons: I don't own this particular model
Summary: When I bought my gigabeat S60, they stopped supporting it completely within a couple of months. Toshiba had the absolute worst customer support I have ever experienced in my life. The gigabeat S60 was a fine product until you had problems with it. Then you were on your own. The Zune came into existence and their past customers were completely ignored. Microsoft must have figured Toshiba out as well because the next Zune isn't going to be made by Toshiba. I wouldn't take anything from these guys if they gave it to me.
