"Good sound quality somwhat clunky and inconviently located controls"

    by Scottydog1961 on December 12, 2006

Pros: The FT602 is a nicely sized 2 gig flash player. Sound quality is excellent when compared to my Creative Z200 .

Cons: Placement of the controls makes it difficult to use as they are at the bottom of the player. Video playback is somewhat jerky.

Summary: Overall this player has been fairly good. The controls are a pain to use as they are at the bottom of the player. You have to hold it awkwardly to navigate. Using the buttons on either side of the main navigation button make it even more awkward. I have actually dropped the player a few times while adding music the the play list. The screen is brightly colored and after you use it for awhile navigation is fairly easy. The sound quality is very good especially when you use the BBE feature. The preset equalizer settings are not very good but you can set the individual frequencies using the equalizer. Twice I have had to use the reset button. My player turned off when the battery was low and it would not power back up until I used the reset button. Using the reset button does not delete files. Video play back has a slight lag between the video and the audio. The firmware upgrade helped that tremendously. The video conversion software is not real intuitive but once you figure it out it works fairly good. Connecting to the computer is simple and dragging and dropping files is easy. I organized all of my music, photos and videos into folders for easy access. Photos tend to look jagged. I have not used the E-book feature and do not intend to as I have no desire to read a book on a 1.8 inch screen. Battery life is not 10 hours. I usually get 4 to 6 hours on a charge. More themes would be nice as there are only two right now. If you tend toward the techie side this player is fun to figure out. The overall feel of the player and documentation is one of "almost there but in need of a little work".
