"Great mp3 player, alternative to the iPod"4.0 starson by mjoyce91
Pros: Big screen, radio, wifi, custom background
Cons: Can't look at pictures and use radio at the same time
Summary: I got this mp3 player because I sold my ipod video awhile ago, but I decided that I wanted another mp3 player, so I got the Zune.
First off, the screen is VERY good against scratches. I don't even use a screen guard and it doesnt have any scratches, where as with my iPod Video it had scratches within the first few weeks. You probably won't need a case unless your pockets are made of sand paper.
The video convertor in the Zune software is much faster than iTune's convertor. Zune converts the video then goes right onto your Zune, pretty easy. Video quality is still good even after conversion and size reduction.
The screen is bigger than the iPod's, .5 inches I belive. Because the resolution is 240x320, you have to rotate the Zune every time you want to look at pictures or watch a video. Some people may find this annoying, but I don't find it too bothersome.
Radio is a big boost over the iPod, where as with the iPod you have to buy a $30 add-on which adds about 2 inches to the total length of the ipod. The only problem with the radio is that you can't listen to it and look at pictures at the same time.
I give Microsoft an A for effort with the WiFi, but it's not that useful right now. It may be more useful in the future via a firmware upgrade, but who knows.
The Zune's directional system may not be as good as the iPod's clickwheel, but it'll do for me. If you want a good mp3 that also plays video, displays pictures, and receives FM radio, then get the Zune and save your self the trouble of getting an iPod and then buying an FM adapter. I haven't had any problems with my Zune for the month or two I've had it, and I think it'll last a long time.
