    "Zune is evolving!"

by Rod Roddy on September 20, 2009

Pros: OLED screen, sleek, touch interface, Zune-only features, integration with Zune 4.0 software

Cons: 32 GB model should have included "premium" earbuds

Summary: Being a loyal Zune owner since 2006 I have witnessed the evolution of the Zune player. Back in '06 when I first got the 30GB "brick" it was the laughing stock of the MP3 player world, it could never in a million years reach the heights of the mythical iPod. 3 short years later the Zune HD is released and no one is laughing anymore. This thing is awesome, thin, touch screen, oh did I mention OLED you might not know what OLED is if you own an iPod. I'm a music buff and this is the player to have if you are too. It's insane it has sooo much information displayed on screen that you become a virtual music encyclopedia while browsing your collection. There is way too many new features to really get in depth here, but trust me when I say I am totally satisfied and glad I stuck it out with the Zune platform.

Oh, and the aluminum casing of the Zune also helps cool the Zune HD as aluminum acts as a heat sink. Those who know about hard drives knows that an overheating hard drive will have more chances at failing prematurely. Keeping it as cold as possible will increase the life of the hard drive.

OLED + Aluminum casing = Longer life, less hardware problems

OLED is an amazing integration, because it doesnt heat up the MP3 player, and uses VERY little battery which means the battery will last longer than on the ITouch/IPhone.

The only other electronic item ive seen in the market at the moment with OLED technology are HDTVs (Samsung, and the 8k+ dollar Sony OLED)
