"Not fully Mac 10.5 compatible" on by dplouffe

    Pros: Good for windows users

Cons: Does not allow OCR text recognition with Leopard 10.5

Summary: Beware of the statement about being compatible with Mac 10.4 and higher. This is not true as Leopard is not fully compatible with this printer.

"Great functions, printing, fast and inexpensive" on by jbain

Pros: Easy to use, fast high quality printing and scanning, scans to multipage pdf, sheet feeder

Cons: sucks power on startup, simplistic software interface

Summary: I bought a refurbished model from Staples for $129 CDN. It doesn't have a mark on it, but does come with starter cartridge good for 1500 pages or so. Remanufactured and new cartridges are about $50-70, for 2500 pages. Drum good for about 12,000 pages and will cost a similar amount. Whatever the case its far less costly than an inkjet. Prints within just a few seconds even from a cold startup. Sheet feeder works great for copies and scanning several pages into multipage PDF files. Scan quality for pictures is great. Laser output is great. Software installation was flawless, with a simple USB connection. I'm extremely happy with this printer/scanner/copier and I highly recommend it, particularly as a discounted refurbished model straight from Brother.

"Excellent value as a laser printer, scanner and copier" on by bc1054

Pros: No brain operation. No trouble whatsoever.

    Cons: Found none yet

Summary: I have this laser printer/scanner/copier for over a year now and I am very happy with it.. Bought from Bestbuy for a song. Unlike other brands, the starter toner cartridge lasted for over 1000 pages (just run out and have to buy a new one). The machine comes with a sleep mode so I can just plug it in all the time. It is plug and play with Windows XP and I cannot recall I have to install a driver. No problem yet... a great machine !!

"excellent quality but inexpensive printer" on by smart consumer

Pros: good value and ease of use

Cons: envelope (manual feed) printing is not align too well

Summary: I have used this printer for almost 1 year and found no problem. The printer is cheap (< $130) with multi ******* (copy, print and scan). The toner is much cheaper than Samsung and other brands because you don't need to change the drum every time. You need new toner ($50) every 4k pages, and you may have to change drum 12k pages. getting new drum (around $100) is so expensive (comparison)that you should get a new printer which you get new toner (1k pages) as well. I am so happy for this product and I have recommended to all my friends.

"Beats HP anyday" on by celockwood

Pros: No bloated drivers just good printing

    Cons: Absolutely none

Summary: Great printer for the money. Absolutely no complaints. Using with Vista, no crappy software to load just the driver. Everything works perfectly.
