"Waste of money and time!" on by dommomite
Pros: Saves space by combining 3 machines into one.
Cons: Jams constantly.
Summary: This printer is a total waste of money. It jams everywhere (copy feeder, paper feed, by-pass etc.) Will not print on labels without peeling them from the sheet. Crumples envelopes. Scanner will not work at all. Print quality is poor. Printed sheets come out curled and will not flatten. Supposed to be a laser - but ink comes out wet - never seen this before. Save yourself some money and aggrevation - do not buy this printer!

"Solid small office printer/copier/scanner" on by hh4law
Pros: Ultra reliable, efficient, dependable
Cons: None yet....
Summary: I own a DCP 8040 for my home office and have one in my work office as well. I use eFax so I have no need for a multi-function device with a built-in fax machine. The DCP-8040 is perfect for my needs. At a very reasonable cost you get a relatively high-volume and high-speed printer/copier, as well as a scanner to convert your docs to PDF. I have found the reliability to be excellent and have had minimal to no problems with paper jams. I highly recommend this device.

"One Year-Plus -- Still Satisfied" on by TheRealStranger
Pros: Works as Advertised
Cons: No color or fax
Summary: Perhaps the buyers who've had bad experiences keep it working all day. do that and any printer will fail eventually. For home office machine that gets constant daily use and infrequent big jobs, it's never let me down. I don't scan, just print and fax. No jams.
Updated
Meant to say in original review I only print and copy. Don't scan. -
"Suffers from Design flaws" on by Divanis
Pros: Space efficient, multi-function
Cons: Problems with paper jams and getting stuck in sleep mode
Summary: This machine is an ambitious attempt to simplify the small office, but design flaws prefent it from functioning. Our machine is stuck on a permanent paper jam. Brother's warranty is nice, but once you buy this type of machine you are stuck with it (you can only exchange for the same machine) We have had two of the same machine with the same problems in the first 3 months of owning the machine.

"Works great, once you get the software loaded" on
Pros: Speed, print quality, works well with XP fax utility as a PC fax.
Cons: Software is tough to install and even tougher to uninstall (if you have to)
