"Great....Delivers what it Promises" on by bradford33

    Pros: Great for older computers

Cons: Not for High Level Work

Summary: Researched all the low-end multifunctions on CNET. Landed on this model, as I have a 5 year old computer with 128 RAM and limited space on the C drive. Avoided the HP's as all these seem to add close to 1 GB of bundled software. This one only adds 80 MB. Also, size of the machine was an issue, and this one is very sleek.
Set-up was a breeze. Took less than 30 minutes, and I'm no techie. All functions work fine. Did not use the PC Fax, but hook-up through an existing phone line is available. Copies fine and fast enough. Scanning is fine, but just for the basics.
The total cost of this machine was $80 after rebates. It's a great deal. I imagine the the Brother 420 would be the same. I had limited use for the Automatic Document Feeder though.

"does it all very well" on

Pros: easy to operate, good print quality, "pause" allows me to dial my long distance carrier access # when dialing fax, color quality good. All for a very good price,

Cons: buying 3 color & 1 black cartridge all together is expensive but you need only replace the colors individually as they are depleted.

"time will tell.. but for this price?" on

Pros: all the convergence I needed in a $69 price tag. (purchased at fry's with a $30 rebate) individual cartridges the fax seems to work well but it seems like the answering machine needs to be physically hooked up ( haven't tested this yet)

Cons: cover feels flimsey and there is no way to feed papers ( for fax or copy)

"Can it be this good?" on by macmando

Pros: CHEAP!!! Bigger Ink Wells, many useful functions, Print quality ok!

Cons: Some parts a little flimsy, drivers can be a pain

Summary: I recently purchased the MFC-210c for $69 after a rebate. $69 for a multifunction? Pretty great deal!! I'm impressed with the color pictures that it prints, and I don't see any problems with text printing. However, to plug in the USB 2.0 cable or change ink cartages, the printer hingers in half with a oldstyle car hood latch. Makes me a little nervous that it may be breakable, but I imagine if you don't drop kick it it'll be fine. The drivers did give me a few moments of problems (I use a Mac), but I've been able to work them out. If you are having problems using the OCR function, try opening the other software program that it comes with. For some reason it miraculusly works then. By the way OCR is the scanning feature that takes text and puts it into a changable word document-pretty sweet! I did some research on other similar multifunction printers, and this one promises the many more pages per ink cartilage than the others.

For $69?!?! I'd by that again in a heartbeat!!!

ps.. Problems with LCD display? You can totally fix that in the menu options under contrast... Simple... So don't listen to those gripes about that...

"Get what you pay for" on by azwolfnut

Pros: Cheap price, good print quality, 4 in 1

Cons: cheap build, some parts flimsy, fidly;seems ok for very light use.

Summary: looking for a basic printer saw this for the same price.Like all the features, however the display LCD is hard to read, the feed tray is fidlly and cheaply built.I,m still having problems to get it to scan, called Brother 3 times after VERY long hold times, no fixes, and to add insult I was not called back as promised. But, I just use it as a printer and dont need high output, but if I needed what it says its supposed to do i would be a little upset not just with the unit but the poor customer service.
