"Good overall performance"
Pros: compact, economical, good engineering, networking ready
Cons: only 10 page ADF, ink consumtion?, no linux capable
Summary: Its a real engineering jewel. Its amazing how this compact device is capable of doing so many things, and most of them in an outstanding manner. I have calculated that its volume is approx 1/2 of compiting models (HP, Canon, Lexmark). I have not compared with Epson because Epson's do not have ADF. It includes full networking capability, good software (Paperport is one of the best I have tested) and you can operate it many different ways (from your computer, from the Brother). Scan is good enough for paper documents, fax and even photo. Network installation went lightning fast and troubleless. Fax is incredible: you can fax from your pc, recieve to your pc, (even if your pc is off, you retrieve faxes when you switch on your computer. I have not tested card readers (but who cares if you have Picasa). Photo prints are very good if you use Brother paper. You don't need any extra photographic ink cartidges like HP, Lexmark. No even an extra black pigmented ink like Canon. From my view it is an extremely intelligent device.
Final words: I dont know if i would change my mind in the future (i have only tested it for a week) but its performance is so good in the long term HP and Canon should fear Brother(which as far as I know was a former sewing machine manufacturer). I will post the ink performance in the long run but I have realized that Brother ink cartridges are one of the most economical.
