    "Solid, Well-Built"

    on February 20, 2005

Pros: I was looking for an inexpensive replacement for my old flatbed and sheetfed scanners. I did quite a bit of research and came down on either HP Officejet 5510 or Brother MFC-5440CN. (1) The MFC-5440CN is a lot more solidly built than the HP Officejet 55

Cons: (1) The HP is better in terms of photo printing. But these days, you can own an inexpensive dedicated photo printer. In fact, I have a Canon printer myself, which produces excellent pictures. I've been told that HP printer uses up ink very quickly. (2)

"Purchased 12-04, best all-in-one for my needs."

    on January 12, 2005

Pros: Replaced an inexpensive Brother MFC-3100C refurb that was problematic. Network capable, 5 in one, quiet, individual ink cartridges, reasonable price ($150 less a $15 coupon + tax), good speed & resolution. Easy setup & connection to network. Worke

Cons: So far, the only complaint is that network & USB connectors are inside the unit instead of on the rear or side panel. You have to feed the cable in & then close the top cover.

    "Not worth it at all"

by pyromr on December 3, 2005

Pros: Easy setup. Worked okay out the gate

Cons: Depletes color inks even when set to black only. Shows tanks empty when just under 1/2 full. Will not print if any tank depleted (and that happens when tank is just under 1/2 full)

Summary: Did lot of homework before buying. Not sure w... read more

    "Great for SOHO"

    on January 12, 2005

Pros: Does everthing relatively well. Ink prices will not put you in the poor house. Easy setup and functionality.

Cons: Scanner and printer are not high end but do an OK job.
