User replaceable drum
Cons: Scan to FTP is FTP only, not SFTP, NFS or CIFS, requiring insecure protocols at least on the internal network.
Network is wired only.
Mobile app does not support printing all PDFs.
Scanning over the network for Linux connects only by IP address.
Summary: We recently purchased one of these. The price was good, and it did the multifunction things like scanning and fax as well as duplex printing. The network is wired only and the mobile application won't print all PDFs, but overall it is very good. The Windows driver install from CD failed midway, but seems to mostly work anyway. The Linux driver (I have only used the print driver, not the scanner) works very well and was very easy to install, just 2 packages and everything works fine, just be sure to install the LPR driver before the CUPS driver. It is in the instructions to do that, but I ignored them, and installed just the CUPS driver initially, since I print through CUPS. I had to uninstall it, then install in the right order.
I have not used the desktop scanner application. On Linux, it requires you to connect to the specific IP, even though the printer driver finds the printer without it. I run all of my IP addresses dynamically, so until I take the time to move the printer to the static block of addresses, every time I scan I would need to look up the current address. I did scan from my phone, though, and that worked well.
