"Reliable but not very user friendly."
Pros: Excellent print quality, good output speed.
Cons: Difficult to change settings.
Summary: I have been using this multifunction printer for over a year now. I find that it is very reliable for my medium office duty needs. Paper jams are few and far between in the printer or automatic document feeder. The toner cartritge, which is also the printer drum, is economical when you consider it now sells for around $79 and provides 2000+ pages and each time you replace it you replace the printer drum. The copier and FAX work very smoothly with or without the automatic document feeder. With all this going for this machine I find it hard to believe Canon hasn't put much thought into the accompaning software and user manual. Little can be done for printer, FAX, or copy settings from the software and using the key pad requires wading through countless menues and often not finding what you are looking for. One fatal mistake with this unit is when you activate the "alarm," such as "wrong paper size," the only way to silence the alarm and reset the machine to default is to unplug for about five minutes and start over. Unless I read reviews that convinced me that Canon has put more thought into software and user friendly controls I would not purchase a Canon printer, copier, FAX again.
