"This is a great machine...get one while you can"
on by barry1of4Pros Good features, great cartridge costs
Cons It may be replaced soon, software could be better
Summary This machine used BCI-24 cartridges, which are very inexpensive...which is probably why it is on sale and may no longer be produced. The software and manual could be better, but one can put up with it considering all the other good features: easy install, flawless working, nice looks, etc etc etc.
Buy one now while you can get it...they are on sale at many of the usual outlets. And no, I DON'T work for Canon, I'm a community college math teacher that uses the machine for school and home work. Alot. -
"About the FAX part of this machine..."
on by bowling300Pros its quiet, it prints relatively quickly, crisp prints, flatbed scanner is high res, ez to use (popup) scan sofware, handy front loading mem stick reader, Fax is ez - ONCE YOU READ HOW! Read below...
Cons It does go thru ink rather quickly, but you can get compatible ink for $1.50 online so no biggie, changing the ink is ez and smart - it ASKS which cartridge you changed C or B&W
Summary Not for Idiots, get a clue first... I have been using this printer for almost a year in my small office. TO FAX you scan in each document you wish to fax, then you press the "set" key to send it. Yes, its not as fast as feeder-faxes but well worth my $140.00. Aside from the ink-hog it is, I am happy with it.

"Best Printer I have ever owned"
onPros Loaded with features, great picture printing quality, scanner works great (and converts documents to text and allows me to save as Word). I wish I would have discovered this printer long ago! Installation was a breeze!
Cons The scanner default settings are too low (the documents are not legible until defaults are changed). Changing the defaults was easy enough though.

"Excellent home printer at a good price"
on by sdardinskiPros All features work well and are simple to use
Cons No cable included, no slide/negative attachment for the scanner
Summary I have been using this printer for 6 months now and am very satisfied with it. I read reviews prior to buying it and some of the negatives (such as the top cover sticker being difficult to remove, and lack of user manual) have been corrected by Canon and no longer apply.
The photo print quality is excellent and the scanner delivers good quality, even scanning in other photos. Color and black and white copies are one touch buttons and simple to use. The fax function is also simple to use right from the printer, without needing a computer.
The ink tanks are somewhat small so it does go through them more quickly than other printers, however you can by equivalent ink cartridges on eBay for about $2 each. I've had good luck with the AcuJet cartridges (available from AQxpo). While there is a slight difference in color tones between these cartridges and the Canon cartridges, you won't notice a difference in quality unless you are comparing the prints side by side. My take is that this is a good trade-off and if I really want a high quality print to keep in a photo album for years, I'll get a copy made at a photo lab service.
There are more expensive all in one printers out there, with more features, but you can't go wrong with this printer for a price/quality combination. -
"Print Head Died"
on by katwomanPros prints nice photos
Cons slow to start up
Summary Print quality started to deterioate after 6 months and then the print head died, would not print at all.
