Pros: Excellent Print Quality
Cons: Software Installation can be tricky!
Summary: As a long time owner of a HP 930C I had grown tired of the high ink cost of "old reliable". I was always skeptical of "all in one devices". I originally intended to purchase the Canon MP780. This fit our needs a little better because we didn't have to have fax capabilities. The MP 500 has card reader slots and an LCD screen for photo printing. The appearance of the machine is nice. It is far superior to our old HP in Print speed & quality. I can print 3 pages of text in the time it took me before to print one page. Photo quality on inkjet paper is well above average, its outstanding on photo paper. Scans better than our last HP flatbed scanner (about 4 years old). The software was the only drawback it was a pain to install and configure. Once this was worked out the printer performs beautifully. If this matches the HP in reliablity then it in my opinion is one of the best out there under $350.00. One last thing, the ink is cheaper. Our HP ink was about $90.00 for large pack of color and 2 black (about 10 months of heavy use). Oh it also will allow you to print photos directly from a card or pictbridge without the computer, GREAT FEATURE. Copier also works flawlessly!
