"You get what you pay for."
on by john_stonePros Two trays to feed paper, compact style, ink cartridges can be refilled, duplex printing, easy set up.
Cons The build seems to worry me about how it will handle 'abuse' over time. Not a sturdy as some other printers I've seen.
Summary I trust cnet and go to them to make my choices so when I wanted to buy an entery level wireless printer I looked to see what cnet said. It came down to the Lexmark S305 and the Canon MP560. Due to cost and the recommendation I originally bought the Lexmark. After two weeks I returned the Lexmark and bought the Canon and so far I couldn't be happier. The Lexmark sucks through ink and you have to but original cartridges. Refilling them is not an option. After having to buy ink after 10 days the print heads went on me and I couldn't get the black or yellow to print. I dealt with Lexmark support and was told that I'd hear from them after the weekend - never happened, so I decided to return the printer and try the Canon. As I said I'm happy with the choice. The Canon is perfect for my household needs of printing documents and such (I have not used it for any photo prints). The wireless was easy to set up and I've enjoyed using the duplex printing option. So the $20 price difference was well worth the lack of problems and reliability I've received.

"Running great after initial setup, great value"
on by shoppingfortechPros Low price
Seems well-made & durable, not flimsy like other inexpensive printers
Easy setup following clear manual
Easy to use LCD
Comes with good supply of inkCons None so far. Only scored 4 stars since I just bought it so can't be sure how it will hold up.
Summary I just purchased this printer after checking many reviews online. Was tempted to buy Lexmark S305 by review on this website but was concerned about ink costs (partly based on experience with a Lexmark a few years ago).
This machine seems to be very well made. It was very carefully packed, and I like the detachable printer head, which other reviewers say comes in handy in case repairs are needed. Setup took about half an hour, but I appreciated the clear, detailed instructions and took my time to make sure I didn't damage anything. Like I said, the machine feels very durable for the price. Parts click into place easily so you don't feel like you're going to break it (like you might with less well-made models.)
I printed a page in color & made a b&w copy of it. The quality isn't what you would expect from a snazzy printer shop, but it definitely looks good enough for everyday use like personal business, schoolwork, or copying documents for your own records, which is just what I wanted it for. I did do the optional step of a test sheet to align printer heads, so that probably helped.
Note that if you do not connect wirelessly, you will need to purchase a separate USB cable (I think about $25). I was lucky to have one already. It's probably to buyer's benefit that the cable is not included since this keeps the cost low. -
"A nice inexpensive printing/scanning solution"
on by dknightsPros Easy wireless setup
Duplex printing
Nice scannning function
Good software package for photo printingCons A little slower print speed than some others.
Summary I was amazed at how easy it was to set up the printer/scanner with my wireless network. The scanner function produces really nice scans. For the price I recommend it.

"Replacing HP Printers"
on by knightoflightPros -Photo Quality to last 100 - 300 years & compares to developers
-Prints on both sides of paper
-Wireless - Network Printing and Scanning - No need for USB
-Memory card slots with color LCD screen
-Ink cartridges light up when installed
-Great PriceCons -No fax
-No document feederSummary This multi-function printer is fantastic. I am replacing an HP all-in-one for printing, but will keep it for faxing and multi-document scanning, when needed. I am also replacing an old HP printer, that doesn't come close on the photo quality of this printer. I have had this Canon printer for about 1.5 months, and have had no problems.

"Replaced 2 HP multifunction printers."
on by bill4482Pros Easy to set up both with USB and Wireless. Vibrant colors, two separate paper feeds.
Cons Limited image editing software included. Need to access soft copy of user manual to figure out what the limited menu on the printer screen is displaying. Printer can't support both USB and Wireless modes simultaneously.
Summary This is my first Canon printer. It was initially purchased to replace a Canon scanner which does not support a 64 bit OS. I'm so pleased that it will replace two HP multifunction units. The colors are vibrant, print speed is good (duplex printing is faster than my HP 990 cse). Loading the driver multiple time(and names) allows easy selection of output media with either USB or Wireless connectivity. Great printer for the price. Review indicate that Price of ink is very reasonable compared to competitive units. This fact was supported in both on-line and in-store comparisons. Overall a great printer for under $100.
