"What a great buy!" on by atlasx2001

Pros: Fast prints, large lcd, great quality photo prints, simple buy effective software included

Cons: Haven't found one yet...wait for updates

Summary: I got this printer 2 days ago and have just started using it. It is great so far.

Set Up- EZ HW & SW installations. Don't forget to get a USB 2 cable.

USE- First, you can print from your camera, memory card, or PC. The included software is great for looking at pictures, tweaking, and printing. The photos are lab quality (using the Canon Pro paper). I have not timed it yet, but I feel like it is faster than the specs that CNET posted.

Only complaint with the software is when you click an icon to view it, it selects it as though you wanted to print it.

Having dual trays for loading paper is a great thing as well. Standard paper in the feeder and pictures from the manual feed tray.

Also has individual ink trays which I have not need to worry about yet, but will likely save some cash in the long run.

I am 100% satisfied with this printer and I think the 299 price point was a good one for what it can do.

If I find things to complain about, I will post more.

    Updated
Okay, I had some more time to play with the printer and I am still very impressed.

Images are great...but now for the other stuff.

Software installs an EZ web print to print out web pages. Great for printing directions on one side of the paper and map on the second!

Lots of various special copy features like 1 page to 2 or repeat.

The only addition to this printer to make is even better would be a sheet feeded but I did not need that.

"I love this multifunction, it just can't be beat; features too many to name." on by southerncat

Pros: Viewer can be angled at different levels! Fast, simple setup instructions; Clear tanks to view ink levels

Cons: All plastic; tray extensions very flimsy; phone tech not trained yet;;no fax available

Summary: I did months of research & comparisons of multifunction printers & their features. This brand/model won hands down. It has all the features except a few minor ones of Canon's most costly multi-function,which is $200+ more. Prints fast and beautiful; ink tanks priced right! This printer has a very professional look to it with gray/smoky black colors; all buttons are at fingertip levels in front;one of the easiest printers I've ever set up! Couldn't be matched by any other company's multifunctions. The only other feature I could have wished for was fax capabilities.Despite all, it's the best out now.

"I love this printer" on by vdombiak

Pros: great multifunction, i love being to photocopy, scan and print it saves a lot of time

    Cons: none found yet

Summary: I got this printer and was scared about setting it up as thought it would be hard but NO!!! IT WAS EASY even for someone that is no expert like me.
So far I've used the photocopy, scanning and printitng and it has been really good. One thing that I noticed and that I did not think before buying is that the scanning surface is letter size so when you want to copy something bigger or odd size you cannot do it.
I have printed only on plain paper and the quality is really good but not amazing as I expected it to be but maybe you need specialty papers for it...
I hav enot scanned negatives or pictures yer and neither have a printed photographs but I'll let you know when i do.

    Updated
This is a great printer, great all in one. Easy to use and fun ans I said in my previous opinion.
There are 2 more iotems I want to comment on that I did not do before.

First the negative: the 35 mm scanning is not very good. It is very easy to use but the scanning is not very good quality; I am no expert so maybe someone can tell me if I am doing it wrong... Well, every time I use it the pictures show scratches or dirt, I clean the negative and then a new scratch ot dirt appears... I am using really high resolution but the results are not really very good.

Last photo printing . I tried it yesterday and I lioked it a lot, the colors are a little mutted though.

"My worst purchase ever" on by jkozul

Pros: It has a lot of features although an average user don't need most of them. It has quite good print quality. Text recognition, negative scanning (not tested).

Cons: Printing on Pixma MP800 is really expensive, set of 5 tiny cartridges is about £60. Scanning is terrible and labourus, it drives me mad.

Summary: I have a home office with 4 PC network and print all sort of things, what for business what for my son?s school projects. I can get good quality documents on high quality paper but I find printing options limited and impossible to get decent print on ordinary paper - much worse than on my cheaper HP inkjet printer. But the main reason I bought this additional HP printer is mainly because printing on Pixma MP800 is really expensive. Tiny cartridges, £60 for a set of five, are protected by microchip to prevent re-filling. Real rip-off. Of course they will tell you that this microchip is there for some other reason but one has to be really guilible to beleive that. Scanning is terrible and labourous as well. Scan 10 times and you will get 10 different results, randomly cropped, rotated... it drives me mad. I bought lots and lots of kit in my life but this printer is the worst purchase I ever made.

"more than one tank magenta installed ????" on by albertarose4ever

Pros: I got a good deal with my Apple computer from the dealer.

Cons: The ink certainly dries up fast. I do not do a lot of printing.

Summary: The ink dried up too quickly and replacement cartridges are way too expensive. The magenta tank for some reason keeps sending up a message that there is more than one tank installed. As a result, I am not able to print and there is no forum or support venue here to help me.
