  • "Stay away from this printer!"
    on by barry10630

    Pros Auto document feeder
    Prints b&w quickly
Responsive Dell service - sent replacement items quickly

Cons Poor product quality - 2 hardward problems in 4 months
Inconsistent color - have to clean and align often (which uses lots of ink)
Cannot default to b&w printing on Windows7

Summary Everything about this printer seems to be about getting you to use a lot expensive ink. Can't default to b&w when operating in Windows 7. Requires frequent head cleaning as the colors get weird frequently (Dell recommends cleaning every other week!) which uses lots of color ink. Cartridges seem to run out quickly.

I buy lots of Dell products. This is by far the worst. I would never recommend a friend buy it.

  • "Why spending money on something UNRELIABLE"
    on by Atraxia

    Pros features integrated

Cons BAD DESIGN, the scanner and the print-head levels are seperated, several times I was about to hurt my fingers while closing each.

PRINYHEAD ERROR, if you are using this printer you would be quite familiar with this message. you can never rely this, some

  • "One Enormous Piece of Junk"
    on by MonaLS

Pros When it works, being able to print wirelessly is fantastic.

Cons The majority of the time, it just plain doesn't work. It only worked for about a week after connecting to my new computer, and now it just doesn't get the signal from the printer. No error messages, everything appears to be connected properly, just nothin

  • "Why Sell the 515w?"
    on by fradz1

Pros I loved this printer. Slick style, great copies, photos, etc. And Cheap! Easy setup. Great customer/tech support (dell has terrible service for the computers!)

Cons They replaced my 515 three times, no questions asked. They know they have a major prob with this printer, so why still selling it? It works for a couple weeks, and then you have to unplug...reload drivers..use a USB cord. It will not stay on network. All

Summary Dell backed the 515 very well. I ended up with an upgraded printer. My fingers are crossed.
My warranty is up in three weeks.
I bet Dell will be happy to see me go!

  • "Not a fan."
    on by ssgrind

Pros For me, scanning has been fine. No issues on the wireless connectivity.

Cons Software ineffective in maintaining and troubleshooting. Print quality not the best. But, the worst is the struggle in getting all colors to print. Seems like it loses a color all the time.

Summary Looking for a new printer that is reliable; this is not it.
