Cons: Cartridge runs out of ink just by looking at it! Cost too much to re-fill. Epson uses their technology to make sure no 3rd party can sell you cheaper ink. Their low-ink and out-of-ink warnings calculated by counting pages!
Summary: After printing about 20 pages you get a 'low ink' warning. Another 20 you can't use printer. Why not let me print out faded pages? Won't let me. Ok I'll replace. Look, old cartridge still 1/2 full. Just an expensive scanner now. No, it wont let you scan now! That is just evil. They will lie to you and say people don't want to print when they're low on ink. Most dishonest company around. So much so I spend all my free time panning reviews of them.
Their low-ink and out-of-ink warnings are calculated by counting pages! I use to test printers by printing out one dot. With Epson it's the same as I printed a solid black picture.

Anyone interested in buying this printer should invest in refillable ink cartridges which can be found on ebay. If you do use the refillable cartridges do not allow the printer to auto-update the software and you should have no problem refilling them yourself at a cost of just pennies. You can buy 100ml bottles of pigment based ink for $40.00 for a full set of four (black, magenta,cyan,yellow) which is about the same amount of ink as you get in about 15 (approx 7ml per OEM cartridge) cartridges which normally cost $15.00 each and that is for each color so you get a total of 60 cartridges worth of ink for only $40.00. The refillable cartridges cost about $30.00 for the set and have auto-reset chips that automatically reset to full once the cartridge has given it's out of ink warning and is removed from the printer and replaced. I have used the nx415 for about 3 years now with refillable cartridges with no problem.
