"Wish I Had Never Bought It!" on by catalina22

    Pros: Prints double sided

Cons: Eats ink (9 sheets on a new cyan cart), ink is NOT water resistant, will not print transparencies!

Summary: I bought the RX680 and LOVED it... for about 2 weeks. I ran out of cyan ink, replaced it, printed 9 sheets, and it said I was out of black (as expected since it was low too). I replaced the black and it popped right back and said I was out of CYAN again! Also, it won't print transparencies as advertised. It stops and proclaims that the paper jammed. Don't buy it for the water resistant (as Epson says) ink. I let a sheet dry for 2 weeks, misted it with water, and watched it bleed and run! So much for archiving those beloved photos for 200 years! So far I've contacted Epson through their tech support web page 3 times over the last 2 weeks. I have had zero response except for the automated "thank you for contacting us" spam. In short, DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER OR ANY EPSON WITH "CLARIA" INK. I think they skipped testing these turkeys before they started shipping! (I would've given it a 0, but you have to give at least 1)

"Great flexibility, brilliant colors, good performance" on by vliscony

Pros: Great colors, good speed, CD printing

Cons: Low paper capacity, cost of ink

Summary: This is one amazing little printer. We got it as a backup for an HP of more than twice the price, and cost of ink aside, it's been a steady performer. The quality of pictures is out of sight.

"Excellent, affordable all-in-one" on by mjlawson

Pros: CD/DVD Printing, quality of output, price

Cons: Copier was not spectacular out of the box but more than sufficient for a home copier.

Summary: This is my second Epson printer, and I'm very pleased with it. My favorite feature is the ability to print directly onto CD's/DVD's. With the new Watershield CD's/DVD's (I found some at burnsmart.com) you can print very glossy, professional CD's/DVD's (be careful; there are at least two competing types of these printable CD/DVD, and Epson recommends against using one of them). Also, this printer is a great improvement over my previous Epson if only because it has two trays for paper, meaning I don't have to keep switching between photo paper for pics and printer paper for text. I just leave printer paper in the front tray and put photo paper in the back tray when ready to print pics. Add to all of this the copier and scanner, and the very low price ($129.99 at Epson plus free shipping and two extra printable photo books) and I'm very happy with this purchase. I have printed several graphic-intensive DVD's and several photos and pages of text, and have not seen any noticable drop in ink levels yet. I'm not sure where the bad review is coming from.

"Epson should change their name to D.O.A." on by sevenout

    Pros: Looks good, quality build

Cons: Does not work at all

Summary: I waited a month for Dell to fulfill this backorder and even fought with DHL to make them actually deliver it today as they promised, only to be dismayed to find out that I am another victim of the "Ink Cartridge cannot be recognized" fatal flaw that apparently is affecting all Epsons.

Apparently Epson created a new chipset to try and stop their customers from refilling their ink cartridges. Apparently the new security chipset is a tad overzealous and is rejecting brand new oem cartridges.

Worse yet, Dell has stopped carrying this printer as of today, for reasons yet unknown, so I can't even exchange it, only return it. I can only assume that Dell had a major problem with this printer to drop it, as it is a relatively new product.

From what I am reading online, users are complaining that buying Epson ink cartridges is now akin to playing "Russian Roulette." This is most certainly something I do not want to have to deal with.

The only reason why I bought this printer is because it looked to be everything I wanted in a printer. Previously I have only ever owned HP printers and have never had a problem out of any of my HP printers, nor cartridges.

I am actually more disappointed than normal as I have been anxiously awaiting and looking forward to this printer. Now I am going to have to pack it up, all 35 pounds of it and send it back.

    Buy at your own risk.

"Print Photos, DVDs/CDs, Documents" on by hbrake69

Pros: All in 1 printer for Documents, Photo's and CDs/DVDs

Cons: Poor Documentation, Extremely poor support from Epson in Phillipines

Summary: Excellent Epson Printer for CD/DVD's and Photo's. Fine for Documents. Auto duplexor. Good Copier. Good Scanner. Bluetooth enabled but no driver's from Epson available. Setting this system up for a Mac with Leopard took 10 calls to Epson and the Phillipines call center have no real Mac training. Takes forever to get a call back from Epson USA or Canada. Great Printer, Lousy Tech Support, Bluetooth is a waste of money unless Epson Japan decides to recreate the drivers. I have not received a return phone call in weeks on this issue.
