Pros Looks nice. That's about the only nice thing I can say, sadly.
Cons Auto 2-sided printing not enabled on Lion. Level 2 Tech Support (Epson) could not figure it out. WiFi Scanning drivers never did install.
Summary Epson's website properly warns you that if the CD shipped w/ the printer does not say it supports OSX 10.7, to not install CD, and instead go to their site for drivers. Great. The only problem is that it's a little confusing on the website. (I'm new to Mac's so perhaps that's part of it. But still ...)
So I called Tech Support (epson), not that convincing either. After an hour or so, managed to install Wireless printing drivers. WiFI scanning never installed. They told me to speak to Apple. THEY spent an hour with me and told me to tell Epson, to uninstall everything and reinstall. Just got off the phone with Epson to talk about yet a different problem. Auto 2-Sided Printing is not even enabled on Lion! So, I'm off to Staples to return this printer.
Pros Good value (on sale at Staples).
Cons Frustrating Lion support. I nearly packed this up and took it back to staples too (as the other review states). However, I called them and they were able to walk me through a kludgey process--but it works!
Summary For $90, it's a high quality wireless printer that document scans and flatbed scans. The Lion handoff was a bit of a fumble but shouldn't keep you from buying.
The process from Epson tech support:
(Assuming you've connected the printer to your wireless network first...)
1. plug in printer via USB (it doesn't come with a cable so you have to find one)
2. From Print & Scan pref pan: Click + and choose Epson usb printer in pulldown
3. test print a page
4. select the printer you just added and click minus (-) to delete it
5. Choose + and add the wireless epson printer in the list
6. test print a page; test scan.
Sorry the instructions are sloppy, but this sequence worked for me.
Pros Fast, good color & excellent B/W printing.
Easy set up (NOT GOOD FOR MAC OSX LION!!)
Cons Epson/Apple need to play ball better. Right now, if you bought an Apple with Lion pre-installed, don't bother with this printer. If you're upgrading, make sure it all works BEFORE you update and then keep your fingers crossed!
Summary Before you update to OS X Lion, be sure that this printer is working. I had the printer working on my iMac before updating to Lion and everything works fine. However, I did not install the printer on my laptop before updating and now I cannot get it to install at all on the laptop. I called Epson and they said they don't currently have a driver for Lion and don't know when one will be available. Apple points me back to Epson. This is crazy.
If you want to keep your blood pressure low, skip this printer (if you have Lion).
