Pros So easy to set up, Worked perfectly from the moment the power went on, excellent customer service by phone, excellent documentation on website, handy firmware upgrade tool, brilliant output quality, plenty of settings to fiddle with.
Cons None so far, even the FAX worked immediately.
Summary I am over the moon with this machine. Everything was easy, easy, EASY - I went for a wireless network printer config direct from the printer, and in ten minutes flat I was printing from two machines without a single cable being used. PLUS, it becomes a network drive, so way cool functionality.
The quality is fantastic - excellent right down to 2 point. The colour is great (although a bit yellow - so I have some work to do with the gamut; big deal... )
Eventually plugged the FAX in for completeness - boom: perfect.
Light, small, cheap, powerful.
If there was a complaint it would be that it is so cool I can't stop fiddling around with it.
Pros Dual trays, quality printing, large capacity ink cartridges, easy to use.
Cons Have to hold the on/off button to turn it on.
Have to press on/off button twice if on standby to "wake up" then turn off.
Occasionally pulls doubles.
Summary I am very critical and hard to please and I am happy with this printer. Has a few things that irritate but overall a very nice printer.
Pros Auto color duplexing
Emailing documents for auto print when out of office
Fast WPS Wi-Fi setup
Very high quality
Cons Not many, but I've only had it for a week. It will lightly bend a corner if you use super heavy weight premium Epson paper...but this was on autoduplexing which isn't recommended for that paper anyhow.
Summary You know, I came here and saw no major printer that had really great user reviews. My conclusion: everyone hates printers in some way. This printer really has a ton of power for a small office, and we've already had graphic designers send print jobs directly to their printer from 100 miles away with the great email feature. I'm waiting to find something that aggravates me, like ink running out too soon...the printer breaking...I dunno...right now we love it, and thought we'd let people know that if you're running a small business AND TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN HOW TO USE THE PRINTER, it is a very, very good device.
Pros Works well and relatively fast, good print quality. Two paper bays.
Cons Not that I have had this problem but I have heard the Durabrite inks (pigment based inks) dries too fast causing printer head clogs. As always the inks seems like a rip off when you see the refill methods.
Summary This is a great printer for business and heavy/advanced users.
Pros Epson Workforce 845 is packed with features-- everything a business needs. First and foremost is reliability. It is extremely reliable and easy to set up. Everything is built and tested with high volume and careless low-tech workers in mind.
Cons None. We are just ecstatic about this printer. We have gone though so many printers of many of Epson's competitors and have become used to extreme disappointment. This printer really sets a whole new standard.
Summary Feature rich and very easy to use features. Unlike all the other printers we have bought and disposed of over the past 10 years, this one is not a constant nightmare. The Epson Workforce 845 is a dream come true. My workers from the super genius techs who need lots of volume to print code to the regular management teams and office workers, many of whom do not do well with anything technical-- the consensus is this is the printer we have always dreamt of. Plus there are many ink options for this printer including from secondary suppliers such as continuous flow ink. I see people complaining that you cannot scan to a web mail program-- well Epson doesn't have anything to do with Google mail but I'm quite sure Epson will come up with a solution but in the mean time any serious business should invest a little money in having their own corporate email-- actually not expensive and you can use programs like outlook and thunderbird with corporate email and gmail so you can scan to and send even on your gmail account with this powerful email program simply by using the outlook or thunderbird programs. Please change the last line to -- Please keep up the good work Epson-- your act against following the pact and the "screw the customer" montra of the printer industry is a true breath of fresh air and deserves every accolade.
Another thing I really loved was the support for both scanning and printing on the Linux platform. I hope Epson continues to support and even enhance it's support for Linux. The figures that show Linux at about 2% of desktops are not at all accurate. Many firms have dual boot protocol and end up in Linux most of the time. Our firm supports both Windows and Linux but we have a big investment in Linux and plan to expand it's utilization.
The speed and print quality are absolutely amazing of the Epson Workforce 845. You can hook it up anyway you can think of and even print and scan over the internet with the greatest of ease. I've had some of our most tech phobic managers pop these things up on both wired and wireless networks in the blink of an eye. The printer actually has it's very own Samba accessable file server so both Windows, Mac and Linux machines can use it further enhancing it's exhaustive list of features. Literally anything you can think of can be down with the greatest of ease with this thing. If you can't do it it's only because you haven't figured it out-- the touch screen display and other support features make it nearly impossible not to figure everything out.
We were going to just get another throw away stressful nightmare printer before I happened to notice this printer on the market-- we absolutely needed fully automatic 2-sided printing that can print 300 page documents without the slightest bit of trouble. I cannot say enough about this printer. This is a power to the people printer-- the first printer we have had that actually shows the company cared about it's customers. Now we can do our job for our customers without falling over from stress. Please keep up the good work Epson-- your act against the following the pact and screwing the custome of the printer industry is a true breath of fresh air and deserves every accolade.
