"Does what it's supposed to do at its price" on by bt_ong
Pros: Decent speed, easy setup
Cons: No manual feed slot, no wifi
Summary: For it's price, one expects this printer to function at a SOHO level (low volume printing) and therefore I was never expecting blazingly fast speed or large capacity paper tray. It has all the necessary connections (except wifi) and is very easy to setup (both USB and network).
Print quality is amazing, especially for photo prints (compared to colour lasers at this price range).
However, my one and only gripe is the lack of a manual feed slot/tray. So when I want to print envelopes or odd-sized paper, I have to remove the A4 paper I have in the tray. If not for that, I would've rated this a 9.5/10 (there will never ever be a 10/10 product as there is no financial incentives for manufacturers to do so).
I also notice that the scan area is smaller to older incarnations of AiO printers. -
"Horrendous software, worst support" on by thedrewstar
Pros: Works well, when it works.
Cons: - Mine died after 35 days
- The sofware is just awful bloated beast that does not uninstall and if you try to reinstall it again, you will be in for a surprise, it will not allow you to reinstall it.
- Support calls: get ready for a 2-3 hour waitSummary: Good printer, good featues for the price. The Software is just the absolute worst I have ever used. Once installed you cannot uninstall all of it, and if you try to reinstall the software it says it is alreaady installed (which it isnt!). I would not recommend the HP experience on my worst enemy. Be warned if you buy this model, it is not like the old HP printer work horses that did what they were supposed to. These new models from HP are made poorly, cheaply and the software will make you pull your hair out. No way to just reinstall over old installation, HP blocks this for some strange reason.
Also the horrible software will block you from printing when IT thinks you are out of ink, even though you aren't. So you are forced to buy more cartridges before you need to. Way to help the environment HP!! Instead of the printing greying out and you changing the catridge, you will print perfectly then it will warn you after a certain number of pages and then it will shut itself off and not allow you to print, until you replace the catridge, even if your old one is not empty. A real scam if you ask me.
Overall, I would avoid this model (and in fact most HPs newer models) they are not made the same way as their older models. Canon, Epson, anything but HP if you just want your pritner to work easily with no hassle. These new HPs are finicky machines and made quite poorly with afwul quality assurance and just pathetic software. -
"Do Not Buy..." on by optic2020
Pros: The print quality is great when it actually works.
Cons: The printer is less than 5 months old and freezes up on a regular basis and the new HP warranty policy is useless. I have owned HP product for the past 15 years and have been happy. Not any more! Not receiving faxes is not business friendly at all.
Summary: Do not Buy... It is not inexpensive and HP service and warranty sucks!

"the HP downhill slide begins" on by 3candine
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Software does NOT install properly, and therefore machine will not work properly. scans default to legal and cannot be changed to letter, printer is constantly re-booting itself. upgraded software will not install either.
Summary: Remember when buying HP meant bulletproof service and fantastic products? Those days are now long gone and be very, very careful when buying HP ( or any machine for that matter). READ the consumer reviews and get a picture of whats going on before you buy. I really wish i did ............ and then I'd be writing a positive review on a competing product instead of trashing this one.
Absolutely horrific product from a company I thought was bulletproof. The software is so poor that not only will it not install 100%, but after 3.4 hours on the help line, down loading the "latest" software to try and find a solution, the new software would not install either. What does work works poorly. the scanning defaults to legal paper and not letter, and cannot be changed. the software will not allow me to obtain upgrades from the net, not that that would help. the end result was that HP said they were sorry and could not help me. Still confident that HP would come through, I called HP direct for a a possible upgrade to the software and perhaps they send me a new disc. Not a peep or a call back after several attempts. Im stuck with a POS machine that the company will not back up. -
"Solid Multi Use Printer" on by boilwater
Pros: Does all functions with good quality. Multi Tasking is possible, memory allow for reprinting. Good quality copy, fax, scan and printing.
Cons: Toner Cost, Difficult to unjam the top feeder, User Screen a little confusing.
Summary: I upgraded from a different brand "inkjet" multi function machine. Generally, I am happy with the HP. The two issues of the cost of the toner is really the single cost since the toner units last longer than ink. I did use rebuilt ink so the cost is higher but the quality is not as good for printing.
The most difficult issue is when the automatic feeder is jammed, watch out. If it is jammed on top there is a simple step but if it is jammed on the inside (bottom of the feeder) you are going to be pulling and hoping that no little pieces of paper get stuck.
Overall, the machine works well and I do get moderate use in both fax, copies and print functions. I would recommend this. It has a larger size so it is not for a little desk however I have the space and it works well for me.
