  • "Not reliable"
    on by cmax116

    Pros footprint not bad

Cons This printer has multiple issues, toner usage is more than previous printer. DO Not buy if you have Windows 7 it is not supported. ADF feeds 2 sheets at a time. ADF leaves a line in every copy.

Summary Multifunction machines are not reliable. I've had 2 and both started having problems about the time the warranty runs out. This particular machine is nice to look at. The keypads are laid out nicely. The networking was easy to set up. Other than that it is a terrible printer. The ocr software is awful to work with compared to my previous Visoneer software. It has a fairly long warmup time. The print quality is good if you don't' use the ADF. This leaves streaks in your document. I have 4 other HP products that I am very satisfied with. This one is the absolute worst.

  • "Lots of problems."
    on by massmama

Pros At first it seemed to do everything well- print, fax, scan. Easy to navigate

Cons Numerous issues- faxing errors (could send but not receive faxes) Had the machine replaced and second one has power issues. I would not recommend this model.

Summary After one year of use, the MF2727 began having fax issues. We could send but could not receive incoming faxes. We would also have to constantly call to have drivers installed. I was told it happens whenever Microsoft has an automatic upgrade. We had a warranty plan so it was replaced. Immediately we noticed that the new one was louder. We began having problems from day one. It would power off while in use. Sometimes it would re-initialize, other times it would just turn off and we would have to turn the on/off switch off and then on again. Now after powering on, it has "scan error" and won't work. I am in the process of having this one replaced. When calling in this time, they immediately knew it was a power board issue. Makes me think this is a common problem. I have a brother all in one that works much better than this one. I bought because I loved (pass tense) HP. This product is a big disappointment.

After a few months, my 3rd replacement will no longer work. It no longer shows an image after scanning, copying or faxing. Staples isn't willing to replace it again so I am now stuck wtih a $400 piece of junk. Please DO NOT buy this product. I wish someone else gave me that advice before I threw away all that money. I am a huge HP fan but will never buy another HP printer.

  • "Absolutely horriable plagued with numerous problems"
    on by cdcomputing

    Pros Speed of printing, duplex

Cons lousy tech support to India, multiple software and firmware problems still unresolved after 1.5 years, problems connecting on fax. problems scanning, harware failure at 1 yr. 3 out of 5 printers failed at one year of use.

Summary As an IT consultant, I have been a loyal and dedicated HP advocate for more than 20 years never recommending anything else but HP to my customers but never again. lousy tech support to India, multiple software and firmware problems still unresolved after 1.5 years, problems connecting on fax. problems scanning across network, harware failure at 1 yr. 3 out of 5 printers failed at one year on use. Who ever is in charge of deciding to send support and software development off shore and firmware development oversees should be strung up for running HP in the ground. Of two 3080s one failed at two years. engineering problem. purchased a 3390 it failed two years later. purchased 5 M2727 3 failed in first year and have had multiple software problems. Purchased one p4014 and it had two many problems with software issues that we could not use it for 6 months until software problems were resolved. HP should have learned from the competition instead of following in their footprints. I personally also purchased a photosmart c6180 for home and it has also been plagued with multiple scanning software problems. so long hp.

  • "What a waste"
    on by rovermee1

    Pros Prints quickly

Cons Excess toner is being released while printing making all of my documents dark. The fix is over 300.00. The top loader jams so we don't even use it. The toner is over 100 and has been replace 3 times this year to fix the problem

Summary For the money, this is a waste. I would not bother with something like this again. It's been a very costly experience

  • "Good except for scanning"
    on by gfineman1

Pros It always works and never needs any fiddling to get things to work. That is you forget that it is a computer type device

Cons The scan function assumes that you use 14 inch paper and each page has to be resized by hand. That means that you can not just scan in a multi-page document.

Summary Much better products are now available for less money and the scanning is a real pain.
