Pros: This printer has a hardware feature set that makes it an ideal fit for a lot of small businesses. Reasonably priced consumables, decent paper handling, ability to add a second paper tray.

Cons: HP seems to have lost the ability to write bulletproof drivers. One of the reasons I bought HP in the past was because they simply worked once you got them installed. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. This one has been a software nightmare.

Summary: The bane of the multifunction is that it does a lot of things; none of them well. This would be a great B&W printer, a reasonable scanner and an adequate fax machine IF the software would work. I am constantly battling with the driver, reinstalling and tweaking and it still doesn't work right. Any printer installation that I have to touch multiple times over the course of it's lifecycle greatly diminshes its value.
