"Scanner is Horrible for anything but tiny jobs!"1.0 starson by CristobalDavid
Pros: It works as a printer just fine. That is the only reason I gave it one full star by the way.
Cons: Loud. Misfeeds when grabbing pages to scan often jams. Scanning is insanely slow. Pages appear crooked on scans. Cannot handle large jobs and a large job is anything more than 30 pages for this machine.
Summary: Do not buy this machine if you need a high capacity and great scanner. If you just want the "ability" to scan on the off chance that you need to scan one or two pages then it will be fine for you.
If you know you need to scan documents on a regular basis and especially more than 20 or 30 page documents you are asking for a ton of stress and annoyance buying this model. The scanning program is not user friendly at all so be prepared to sit and be confused with it for a hot minute unless you are tech savvy. You would think you could just put your documents in the feeder and press a button on the machine that says "scan". No you can't because there is no button on the machine for this. You have to activate the scan by opening up the program on your computer and press the scan button in the program.
God help you if you try to scan 30+ pages. You should know the capacity to load pages is around 50 pages by the way and the more you load the more chances it will misfeed, grab more than one page at a time to scan, or simply jam. So you have to watch what you are scanning closely. Also, the more you load the more the pages appear crooked on the actual scan. I think HP knew about this problem because they include a "straighten" document tool in the program. But it doesn't straighten it completely.
So basically if you just want a printer that you can every once in a while use as a scanner but very rarely - you might like this model. If you are buying this model specifically because you need a really good scanner that you will use daily - DO NOT BUY this model.
(I have never even attempted to use fax function so I can't review that feature.)
