"Quality printing, scanner problems"
Pros: Nice multifunction and good printing...when it works
Cons: Scanner failure error
Summary: I have had the D135 (sister product to D145) for about 2.5 years. I bought it because it was HP, had print/scan/copy/fax functions, had a sheet feeder for copying and scanning. Unlike other users, I have not found it difficult to refill cartridges, but it did cost me a couple of printheads when I let the cartridges run dry. Biggest problem is the recurring Scanner Failure error message that keeps popping up. I have had long stretches where it all works well, then other times when I can't get so much as one copy or scan completed before Scanner Failure. I have used HP online support and all of the troubleshooting on their website to fix the problem. Now, I can't even get their fixes to work. Since the model was only available for a short time, it will surely be an expensive (and probably incomplete) repair. The machine shakes a lot when printing or scanning, which suggests that it is vulnerable to failure if parts are not secure. I have an old Laserjet 6L from 1997 which still works great. Why can't HP make a reliable multifunction?
