"Software is a big improvement"

5 stars  | on by changstarr

Pros

Improved software
Quiet
Able to use CIS without trouble

Cons

Paper storage, can't see how much paper is left or what kind of paper is in it without opening up the clunky paper tray.

Summary

I replaced my Office Jet 7590 with this, and I'm totally happy with it. I also owed a Office Jet 7580, which is the same thing as the OJ 7590 but different front panel.

OJ7590 and OJ8500 are about the same speed. They both have the same functionality (printer, ... Read full review

OJ7590 and OJ8500 are about the same speed. They both have the same functionality (printer, copy, fax, and scan). Both can be networked. But, the OJ7590's software had a lot of problems. It was not very stable.

Installation was really easy and straightforward. I installed it and that was it. It's only been a week, but I haven't had any problems with it.

"This is simply fraud"

Pros

The product itself is a high quality

Cons

built-in counter/timer which disables the device after a certain number of jobs or period of time

Most of printers and all-in-one devices by HP have a built-in counter/timer, which disables the device after a certain number of jobs or period of time. This is actually fraud because it is not mentioned in the spec and HP does not want to discuss it. Therefore I personally try to avoid anything made by HP and I tell this to as many people as I can.

"Not best, not worst; good to have HP compatibility"

3.5 stars  | on by slm999

Pros

Compatibility with all programs due to HP software.
Good output.
Dual side printing.
Scanner/fax sheet feeder.

Cons

Too often (5% of print jobs) doesn't feed paper.
Fax requires HP phone cord (my other cords don't work, I don't know why).
Loud and slow start-up and shut-down.
Loud printing. (I don't care)

Summary

Have owned for 2+ years. All of my HP printers have been better than other brands I've owned (Lexpro, Canon). Most of my HP printers have had paper feed problems, but so have my other printers.
