"buyer beware"on by Waterdynamics
Pros nice looking
Cons nothing but trouble. Eats ink like there is no tomorrow. Poor quality print. Appears it uses all different color ink to print black thus it uses all the ink.
"Too many faults"on by elemenopy3
Pros Plenty of features when it works (not that often)
Cons Always seems to "align printheads" or "check printer" whenever something important needs to be printed
Useless telephone support
Summary Half of the original printer's touchscreen stopped working after a few months. Rang to get it replaced; the new printer would hang with "Aligning printheads..." until it was turned off--meaning it was less functional than the original printer.
Choose a different brand
Pros Haven't found any yet
Cons Lines through pictures
Won't print after latest firmware updates
Summary Run away from this product. Prints a line through pictures. HP will have you install a different driver (for a different printer) that will lessen the darkeness of the lines but then you have to change drivers back to scan from the PC. The firmware updates have disabled the wireless printing. They say this is a known issue with some of these printers - no fix yet. The drivers are extremely limited. HP says that is because most people want to use 3rd party tools and that they will sell me the software to add the functionality...
Pros Good print quality if you can ever get it to actually print something. the chance of hitting print and then the printer just printing your document is VERY slim.
Cons Many. and they are huge. Goes into sleep mode which is only correct by unplugging the unit. Claims it's out of paper when it's not. Runs on and on for several minutes before every print job.
Summary If I've printed 100 times since I've owned the printer I would guess 5-7 times I was able to just hit print on the screen and actually get a page to print. The other 93-95 times it had an issue. Half the time the printer refused to wake unless I unplugged it and waited several minutes for it to reboot. If it was awake because I printed within the last 24 hours it takes on average three to four attempts before it actually pulls paper and prints. It says there is no paper. I've tried putting a lot of paper in, a little, hand feed one at time. Nothing works. I might not even care if it just said that right away but each time it does a 35-45 second process to clean the heads or whatever to end up telling you it's out of paper. I know it sounds extreme but don't even take this printer if someone gives it to you for free.
Pros Fast printing in black and in color.
Cons The duplexor door fell apart when I was installing it. We had to find the springs and put it back to together in order to accomplish the very first step in assembly. Then the first time I tried the automatic feed it crinkled up my original. Then it fed
Summary I am so disappointed in HP's increasing lack of concern for quality. This printer disintegrated almost before I got it set up. For 30 years I have used HP printers but not any more. I'm changing to Epson.
