  • "Very Disappointed- Crashes All the Time!"

Pros: The specs sound great and it has a lot of nice features.

Cons: Crashes ALL the time- all the lights on the front panel flash repeatedly, and it warns to power down the printer. Once you power down, it then yells at you for powering down incorrectly.

Summary: I really wanted to love this printer- but it's been an exercise in frustration. It crashes all the time- all the lights on the front panel flash- and I can only print 2-3 pages without crashing. I tried printing a one page color photo, and each time it crashed halfway through the page. It took 12 attempts (and 12 wasted sheets of photo paper) to print it correctly. It shouldn't be this difficult.

Now it crashes even when nobody is printing. It's sitting there idle, all the computers in the house are off, and the front panel lights all start flashing with a warning to power down. I power down, it yells at me for powering down incorrectly, and goes through a 10 minute startup process again. Five minutes later all the lights are flashing again- when nobody is doing a thing.

I'm extremely frustrated- after years with HP, I'm ready to go back to Canon. I did a quick google search for the model number and "flashing lights" and there are many other people with the same problem. Comeon HP- fix the software!

@tbcass: "If you search the internet for customer reviews you will find some people having problems with every product made often the result of user error."

Just as, when someone does experience problems, some jerk always appears to tell them it's their own fault.

Did you call HP to try to fix the problem? Are you sure you didn't do something wrong? Did you take it back to the store for a replacement. I have this printer and it works flawlessly so I suspect there is nothing at all wrong with the software. I also did a search on this printer and the vast majority of the reviewers are happy so I suspect you are a small minority. If you search the internet for customer reviews you will find some people having problems with every product made often the result of user error.
