"Wait till HP gets the networking figured out"

    by c22sailor on May 12, 2007

    Pros: Print quality is great

Cons: Networking is something to be desired

Summary: The print quality is great when you get it to print. Could not get scanner and fax setup on a network. I could not scan to a file on my computer could not get Direct Digital Filing for scanning to work could not send a fax from my computer. I could fax and scan from the printer. HP Tech support was not much help.
    There quote.

Thank you for writing back to us and providing us an opportunity to serve you again in this matter. I regret to note that the issue remains unresolved even after performing the recommended steps. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

I understand that there is no Bidirectional communication between All-in-One and the computer. As the full feature All-in-One software is not at released for this model we can not establish the Bidirectional communication.

HP is going to release full feature All-in-One software very soon, after installing the full feature All-in-One software you will be able to resolve the issue.

I truly apologize for the inconvenience caused. I could not believe HP would release a product that would not work as advertised.

They did send me new updated software but that was no help. I wasted a lot of time trying to get all the functions to work. And they still don't work. It?s not worth the money. HP no longer replies to my emails. You can not talk to there tech support on a phone its either IM or email. Very disappointed it was exactly what we were looking for.

Worked out of the box, until the output tray broke on printjob #2. . .pretty flimsy for a $500 machine. Replacement L7780, ADF refuses to work, absolutely cannot grab a single sheet of paper. HP Tech support sends me cleaning instructions, I explain how its never been used. I can get it to feed by hand one sheet at a time but when it can drown it draws at an angle - useless feeder (i.e. useless as a fax machine).

Known bug in the default tray/tray lock. Good luck using 2 separate trays for two separate kinds of paper - the copier and fax medium really don't give a darn what you want, HP knows this and will still give you the verbatim instructions on how to lock a tray knowing that for fax and copying it will NOT lock.

The DOT4/USB driver installation is the messiest most registry obfuscating driver install that I've ever done. Good luck if you have driver problems. Besides the normal uninstall that comes on the CD there are not one but two un-install special utilities on HP's website and each of those programs has FOUR SEPARATE uninstall purges. As a 15yr IT professional and a 10yr HP buyer I can say with confidence my loyalty and even acceptance of HP has been sucked out of me with furious anger at the awful engineering (both soft and hardware) and ridiculously futile tech support and documentation on this, the so called, "top of the line" all in one.

I am trying hard to get my money back from HP since its about 45 days old.

I can get the WiFi and ethernet to print fine, and usb print hit or miss. I cannot scan, and cannot "print to fax" and cannot fax using the adf. Because this was to replace so many crucial components in the office, its malfunction was only that much more hurtful of an impact on our productivity. Thanks HP for costing me $10s of thousands of dollars in lost time.

And for the record, this is the first "molly rant" I've ever had, but people really need to be warned to avoid this. HP - prove me wrong, send me something that works - I'm not taking this 40lb beast back to the store for the 3rd time.

I have several HP printers with all of them the main problems has been their software, Their software is a memory hog, I have had a problem with part of their software "Photo Gallery" not installing properly, it attempts to install unsuccessfully on startup, says it is missing a file that is not on the installation disk. Having uninstalling, reinstalling, and upgrading Net Framework, the problems is still not solved after multiple requests for a fix. When the software works, the printing is great, and the photos are excellent

Call them at 800-474-6836 and when the outsourced nonenglish speaking moron answers, tell them you have a button problem on the front of the panel. Once you get through(because this will get you put through to level II pretty much right away) then you can talk directly to the english speaking non-outsourced tech on the phone. Good luck.

Wireless connectivity with an all-in-one? I suspected it to be to-good-to-be-true and I find one of the reviewers agreeing. Lack of bidirectional communication has long been a fatal fault of so-called wireless printer and I'm sorry to see that it hasn't yet been addressed.

If so then you must understand that vista is a new OS and many manufacturers are having issues with their products being fully supported on this new OS. Yes the OS has been out for a while now but I'm sure that you would want 100% working and functional drivers so it takes time.
