"Great Home All-In-One for the Money" on by liljill8
Pros: Inexpensive; Good Quality Printing; Fast Printing; Surprisingly Efficient with Ink; Full Functionality; Small Footprint; Great Styling
Cons: Noisy When Printing; Control Pad a Little Confusing
Summary: After extensive research into printers for my home office and an intensive review of my budget, I finally settled on the HP Photosmart C3180 without seeing any reviews. However, I figured that the price was right, the HP reputation is strong and the functions of the printer are what I need, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I connected the printer as soon as it arrived (piece of cake, even for a novice like me). I then began to use it very heavily. I am so impressed. THe quality of the print is incredible, the printer is versatile and it moves fast (especially when in the economical fast mode). I'm even surprised at its efficiency, re: ink. After weeks and a lot of printing, both B/W and color, with some at the high quality level, the printer is still using the sample inks that came with it.
As far as looks are concerned, the printer is sleek with a very small footprint, even taking the paper tray into consideration. It has a clean appearance without an industrial look. It is great for today's offices with a more contemporary appearance.
The only two possible issues that may detract from this printer is the same as may be found with any inkjet, with the exception of the very high end inkjets. Inkjets tend to be a little noisy as it prints at the speedier settings. This printer isn't any different. Secondly, the control pad is confusing. Use will require reading of the manual, unlike others where you plug the printer in and go.
Overall, the difference in operations and results between this printer and those in the $250 to $300 price range is negligible.
I recommend this printer for anyone who wants a stylish all-in-one printer that performs like a high-end printer and yet who is not willing to spend the $300 plus price of the more expensive printers. I'm planning to buy one for my son's dorm room...at this quality, it will work great for him and, at this price, I'm not worried that it may not survive the rigors of a college dorm room. -
"Casual Home Use All-In-One" on by cyberiantyger
Pros: Cheap; Small Size; Print-Scan-Copy; Most media cards accepted
Cons: No USB printer cord included; No fax function; Small & Expensive ink cartridges
Summary: I got this AIO as a package deal with my new laptop. Well, after 6 months of use, I have to say the C3180 is great for casual home users ONLY. I was one until I started teaching full-time, then I really realize its shortcomings. I use the cheapie setting to print, copy, and scan everything in low resolution or fast draft. Even in that setting, I'd have to replace the cartridge every 2 months. I only print out about 40 text documents per month. And HP's money maker, the cartridges #92 & #93, costs about $20 each. The cost per page is way too high. Just make sure you do your research if ink cost is your top priority, even if the printer is dirt cheap.

"Great Multi-task Printer!!" on by BeefJurkie1
Pros: Easy to copy documents, Great Intuitive Design
Cons: Included inks are filled very low by HP
Summary: Hurry...Office Max has it on their website and in their stores this week (9/3/2006 thru 9/9/2006) for only 69.99 with an instant rebate of $30.00. Regular price is $99.99. I debating about getting a HP with a small LCD screen for picture printing but figured that just more for looks than anything else so I opted to get this one.

"total crap, all in one source of frustration" on by vigilantconsumer
Pros: looks pretty
Cons: expect to spend at least 10 minutes fighting with it each and every time you need to print something
Summary: Total crap, I had this for about 6 months, maybe a third of the time I was able to turn it on and print something without a problem. It had issues feeding paper, today it refused to feed paper normally and was behaving very erratically. After fighting with it for 2 hrs, and half an hour with a customer serice rep, I could no longer restrain myself and gave it a chuck norris death kick. I will never purchase another HP product as long as i live.
