"An Excellent Do-It-All Printer" on by rsx1

Pros: It does anything a home inkjet can do - black and color text, photos, fax, scan, copy and wireless connect - and seems to excel at every task
** Effortless wireless setup from MAC Book
    Beautiful Apple-like design

Cons: No dedicated one touch speed dial buttons - however, there is a menu on the screen that shows all the speed dials and lets you choose one. For me this ia actually a plus because on my old printer I kept forgetting which number button was which.

Summary: I replaced an older HP AIO (6110) which failed after 5 years. This model is faster at text, color pages and photos.
Print - very good to excellent
Color text and graphics - excellent
Photos - store quality, dedicated photo paper drawer makes printing easy
Scanning - wonderful with OCR that works and effortless integration with PC and MAC
Faxing - quick and easy, I like the speed dial menu on screen so I don't have to remember which number is which recipient, a document feeder for multiple copies or fax pages that works well (unlike my old HP)
Photo copy button, special page generation button - I've never seen these features before and use them now to copy photos and make cover pages instantly directly from the printer
Wireless - I no longer have to try to get my MAC to access the printer through my Vista PC, each accesses the printer directly - WOW
CD/DVD printing - this is an unexpected plus that works very well
Even the packaging was thoughtful and easy to take apart

Well, I am embarrassed to read my original review. As others have suggested this printer is FLAWED. Now I know. My WiFi radio has also failed, and what's more, the printer also refuses to recognize a USB connection. I have used it only moderately for less than 2 years and it is about useless. It has an excellent feature set but apparently is very, very unreliable. Despite the excellent editor's review I now have to say "Do not buy this printer". It is strictly ONE STAR. I would change my rating if I could. Sorry if I mislead anyone.

"Nice hardare, Absolutely horrible software" on by segesvar

Pros: Scanning and printing are fine when the thing works

Cons: Horribly painful software problems. Device disappears and won't reinstall. Software is terribly invasive and prevents my computers (XP) - 3 of them - from starting up and shutting down without long delays

Summary: I am returning this thing to costco and buying a Lexmark multifunction device. HP needs to correct and improve software as well as cartridge use and expense before I would ever consider another of their products.

"OK product but you can find better for the price" on by elgrantusa

    Pros: Easy to use
    great quality of prints

    Cons: Expensive ink cartriges replacements
Uses a lot of ink vs old printers

Summary: Easy to use but expensive to use / operate. Contains 5 color ink cartriges + 1 black ink cartrige. Each color cartidge costs $12.00 and black $18.00 - around 500 pages depending on quality of print.

"Drinks ink like a camel!" on by Holdenwhat

Pros: prints fine, didn't cost a lot to purchase

    Cons: INK! outrageous

Summary: It sucks up ink like nothing I've ever seen before! I have never had a printer that used this much ink. And it's outrageously expensive to replace. As soon as my set of ink is gone, I'm getting a new one. It will pay for itself in a matter of weeks from simply not having to buy ink.

"Doesn't work well on a Mac." on by ski2moro

Pros: Good looking box, built in duplexer, wireless connectivity

Cons: It doesn't work with a Mac. Scanner buttons on the control panel won't work with a Mac, says my device is not connected. Scanner software for Mac is horrible. Scanner is SO SLOW - over 7 minutes to scan a page to file at 200 resolution?

Summary: I wish HP would have some programmers to work on the Mac software and stop treating Mac users like unwanted step-children. HP needs to work on the scanner software for the Mac. Get rid of the Auto Crop or let us choose to disable it because it is erratic and unpredictable. Scan to file takes 7 minutes for a B&W scan at 200. Way too long! Mostly it doesn't work. HP needs to enable the Control Panel Buttons to work with Macs. I'm tired of the work-arounds.
