  • "Great Printer"
    on by pcprowess

    Pros Everything

Cons The paper tray is a little flimsy, not a huge deal though.

Summary I absolutely love this printer. I bought it for my home based business, after 2 weeks of researching printers. I wanted a printer that had an excellent print quality, was good on ink, and wouldn't cost a fortune. This printer by Lexmark has delivered.

Set up was seamless, I was able to set up the wireless and have it up in running in no time. I love that I can print from anywhere in my home. I have used the print, fax, and scan options and all have been super EASY. I'm a tech person, but I still appreciate easy! A novice can use this printer, with all of bells and whistles w/no problem. The scan to email option is awesome.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a great printer this one is worth it.

  • "Faulty from the Start"

    Pros Easy install procedure.

Cons Faulty print head and wouldn't connect via WIFI.

Summary Is it too much to ask that it work right out of the box?

  • "Incredibly Terrible"
    on by JakeReview

Pros Promise of functionality, responsiveness of Lexmark service with repeated calls for help (A for effort)

Cons Utter malfunction, Lexmark's inability to fix

Summary I'm shocked by the largely positive reviews of this printer.

I'm not a big review-writer but was compelled to create an account just to warn people against this printer, which is really, really bad.

I'm on my 3rd printer. I've also had the print head replaced twice. I've tried everything I could to get a refund direct from Lexmark, but their strict policy only allows for continued "repairs" until the problem is fixed. In that sense (and in fairness to the Lexmark brand) they're very responsive and try hard to make it right (hence the repeated replacements.) But the problem, it turns out, is that the printers aren't broken. They're just poorly created.

    The problems:
    • Routine paper jams
    • Frequent ink leaks - several times, when printing photos, the paper has come out completely saturated with one color of ink or another.
    • CONSTANT color issues: when printing photos, colored text, etc., it invariably comes out with discolorations (blue = green, black = gray, etc.)
    • The touchscreen freezes about 3/4 of the time i use it, requiring a reboot to continue use
    • The scanning quality seems lower than advertised - always comes through a fuzzy
    • The print quality - when it DOES print correctly (rare) - is still very low. Not sharp, not vibrant.
I'm somewhat computer savvy and have tried EVERYTHING recommended on the site to remedy my problems - updated drivers, firmware, etc. No luck.

FYI: I'm using it wirelessly with my new MacBook Pro, so my only thought is some sort of operating system incompatibility, which might explain others' satisfaction with this printer.
For me, though, it was a big mistake. And even though I'm on my 3rd, shiny new one, I'm going to buy a different brand of printer, because it's essentially useless.

Stay away! If your experience is anything like mine, you will surely regret it.

  • "Print head problems"
    on by ctrabada

Pros Quality (when it actually prints), wireless, great scanner, easy to use screen, cheap ink

Cons Major print head problems, wireless connection problems

Summary Received this as a Christmas present from hubby who did not check reviews. Had to retire a 7 year-old Dell printer and was having problems with a 5-year old Epson. Was easy to setup and install. Wireless connection worked right away. However, all printouts came out with grey boxes on the pages. Since I wasn't printing important documents or photos yet, I let it slide but then it got really annoying. Could not print anything without the grey boxes. Contacted support after four months and they promptly sent a new print head. It worked perfectly for a little while and then started having wireless connection problems. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Last week, it started giving me problems again. It will not print a full page. The black is faded and the colors are not even. It starts printing for about a fourth of the page and then it's just blank. Contacted support again and they're sending me another print head after 3 months of receiving the last one. I performed deep cleaning of print head twice and it still doesn't work. I use original ink cartridges and have not had to replace them yet because I've only printed a total of 157 pages since I bought it (and most of these pages have been either blank pages or poor quality).

Obviously this printer has serious problems. Once the warranty runs out, I will probably have to scrap it and get a new printer. I wish they would just send me a new printer instead of the print heads (of course this would not be cost effective for Lexmark). So it looks like I will have spent two hundred dollars for a printer that will last less than a year.

    Will not buy another Lexmark.

  • "My worst printer to date"
    on by gautam-csat

Pros Ink is cheap but if the printer does not work, what's the point.

Cons Wireless does not wake up despite updates to latest firmware and drivers. The best you can do is run to the printer, click on the power button to wake it up. Sprint back to where your computer is and then issue the print command. That's Lexmarks wireless

Summary In my opinion, this is a waste of money.
