"Brother printers are mechanically terrible."
Pros: Printer worked well until first ink change.
Cons: Broke down after 1st ink change. Poor print quality, service terrible. Installation way too complicated. Do not waste your time or money on Brother products.

Pros: Reliable as can be. Very durable. Fairly quiet. Better than average print quality. Fax function has worked without jamming for more than four years and tens of thousands of pages faxed.
Cons: A little tall for a desk top use. Cost of toner and drums can add up over the period of a year
