Featuring a scan resolution of up to 4800x4800 dpi (Interpolated), you can scan images with great accuracy and color. This multifunction device even offers standalone functionality as a copier and fax machine. The 1815dn includes the Dell Toner Management System - an intelligent software program that monitors the printer's toner level and notifies you when the toner levels are low. Excellent multifunction deviceby sheridanwa - January 21, 2007
Pros: Fast, inexpensive, good interface, quality printing
Cons: none I can think of
Review: I set this unit up at a branch office. It is a very nice piece of equipment. Scan to fax, scan to pdf and email, good printing quality, good management capabilities, excellent user interface. Excellent desktop client. If you have a Dell / Windows shop, this is a great product for way less than HP.

Does not work with macby hikebikeski - November 8, 2006
Pros: Price, sleek design
Cons: Does not work as advertised
Review: Dell advertises that this machine is compatible with macs. It is not. Dell does not include any kind of support or instructions for getting the machine to work with Mac OS X. You can get it to print single sided pages, but it will not duplex print, and most importantly, it will not scan to your mac. I also could not get the machine to scan to a usb key. I returned it. Dell support, by the way, though it has a reputation for excellence, was terrible. I was treated rudely, was hung up on, and got bounced around to several people, none of whom knew anything that was useful to me.

Cons: Large, no color print
Review: If your work network is locked down to a level that makes simple scanning impossible, this device is perfect. Throw the document in the feeder, put in the USB drive and scan directly to it. We mostly use it to scan in signed documents to send via e-mail in .pdf format. I searched long and hard to find a multifunction that could do what this machine can do and it works perfectly. We don't even have it hooked up to the network (not that the clowns who run the network would let us).
