"DON"T TAKE THE "FREE" PRINTER!" on by mdlee1
Pros: If you print a page or 2 per week and don't care about quality, this is the printer for you!
Cons: Prints slightly crooked. A replacement 'remanufactured" was worse. Ink: only buy from Dell online. High price. Ridiculous shipping charges.
Summary: Buy your computer from Dell. Don't take their printer even if it's free. I wouldn't even donate this free printer to a school. Why? Because Dell will rip them off with their proprietary ink cartridges. What a shame from such a fine company...I have been a big fan until now and will still buy another PC from Dell. But these Lexmark printers are junk. But you can buy cartridges for your lexmark at Costco. Not Dell. This marketing practice is not what I expected from Dell.

"Spend a couple bucks more for something better!" on
Pros: Inexpensive for the number of features. Backed by Dell support.
Cons: Very cheap construction. Within the first couple weeks, the scanner broke and the unit had to be replaced. Also, ink can only be bought through Dell. Although it's the same printer as the Lexmark X5150, you can't use the same ink cartridges becuase of

"Mixed feelings" on by bluescreen11
Pros: Great!--when it's working
Cons: Terrible--when it's not working
Summary: The first obstacle to overcome--we kept getting defective A940's and had to replace them through warranty. This is the third or fourth one, and it's just reached the one-year mark. Gotta get a new printer--no more Dell for me.

"cartridge buying nightmare!" on by tinkergeek
Pros: decent features for the price
Cons: can't stop printing once it's started, cartrides are costly and ordering is a nightmare.
Summary: no, dell, i did not misunderstand...i was told i had to spend $129 and purchase 4 cartridges, after stating twice that i wanted one black, and one color cartridge. i got it down to 3 cartridges but no lower. i was to spend $104 total. that's very near the price of the printer! i was told i was out of ink though the indicator said i was "getting" low, and it showed 1/3 left. no reply to my questions or feedback. bah. i learned my lesson from dell. i think i will ignore them now...
