"DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!" on by Danga425
Pros: Fast, decent quality faxes and prints, easy set up.
Cons: Misrepresentative marketing, NOT wireless compatible, terrible support.
Summary: I bought this multifunction machine for telecommuting from home. There are other models by other manufacturers significantly less expensive with comparable quality, but few that market themselves as compatible with wireless networking. I specifically bought this expensive machine for that feature.
Unfortunately, to set up or add to an existing wireless network, an optional proprietary part (SCX-00LA) needs to be purchased and installed. What Samsung doesn't tell you, however, is that the SCX-00LA is not available in the United States, there is no timeline for its release. The overly expensive machine you bought specifically for that one feature is now an expensive paperweight one room over from the desktop. (After tripping over the 16' + 10' foot USB 2.0 extension cord, and ripping the USB port from my $3,000.00 desktop, I decided not to chance it with the 26' USB cord running through the house again.)
Samsung support was completely unhelpful (one condescending schlub actually told me that this machine is not marketed as wireless compatible in the US (despite Samsung's own website)) and it took two full weeks to ascertain the correct status of the SCX-00LA and its unavailability. Samsung's final response? Marketing people are working on it. Send it back to the reseller (too late and the packaging is gone.) Sorry.
In short, the 4720-F is a decent machine with decent fax and print quality and is easily set up, but it doesn't deliver what it promises. Samsung support is misrepresentative, condescending, and completely worthless (even to merely get information about the unavailable part) and I've ended up with a very expensive paperweight. I'll never buy Samsung again, and I suggest you don't chance it with this model. -

"What A Piece of Work!" on by yiipppeeee
Pros: Its ability to copy large jobs
Cons: Its a piece of junk!
Summary: Purchased. Received machine. Fax modem broke within 24 hours (machine would ring on incoming fax but would not pick up automatically, only manually). Sent back. Received brand new machine as replacement. Fax modem broke again within 30 days (same problem). Didn't bother to send back since it cost me $80.00 each time b/c the machine is large. I bought a $100 HP inkjet to use as a fax machine and continued to use Samsung for printing, copying and scanning.
I use the "Courier New" font on Wordperfect for printing my correspondence. I noticed that some of the words in the letters were faded when I printed. I called Samsung and explained this problem. Samsung said there was a problem with the softwares compatibility with Wordperfect and that they had received other complaints. Samsung said they had no fix and told me to just select another font for my letters!
Then, just yesterday (7/20/06), only 15 months after buying this product, the machine (while not even using it) started making noises like it wanted to warm up to print and then seconds later it DIED!!! I mean absoultely nothing works. It wont even turn on! BUYER BEWARE! -
"Over priced, under supported and lots of problems." on by waltinvt
Pros: For about 700 copies it worked relatively ok (compared to what was coming)
Cons: 1st unit arrived with defective scanner but Newegg replaced it.
Copier lid (has scanner / doc feeder built in) has weak springs and has never stayed up on it's own.
I've never got more than 800 copies from any Samsung cartridge and I tried 4. They all hadSummary: I've had a small drafting business for over 30 years and used many office machines over the years from HP, Calcomp, Canon, IBM & Sharp. This was my first time with a Samsung product and given the lack of quality in this machine and the poor support by Samsung, I would think twice before buying another office product from them.

"Unsupported Product" on by LACAliketech
Pros: Speed, Clear Copies
Cons: Unusable Scanner Software, No Software Support
Summary: While the simple functions of the machine work fine, such as printing and copying and the speeds are good, anything more technical with this machine fails ESPECIALLY SCANNING as there is little to no software support for this machine. Even updating drivers causes more errors than fixes. I cannot recommend this product.
