Pros Good quality printer, fast and works well from a print server. Fax works without problem. Copy functions work well for small office
Cons Scanner does not like to work through a print server. Not a bid deal for us since scanning isn't the reason we purchased it
Pros i was what i needed for a great price as a start up,color would be nice. Once it gets up and going it will print copy what ever you need at a good pace
Cons slow to "wake up" slow pc to print "talk" times(sometimes i find myself hitting the print button twice to make sure it printed only to find out it did and get two copies)other than that WIN XP and that is all i have to say
Pros We receive over 200 faxes per day w/o any problems. I use it to print all of my forms, etc. I have not used it to fax from my computer yet but haven't had to so far.
Cons It has began to pop in the AM when we use it for the 1st time but it always works.
Pros All I can do is praise this product. I have installed one at 14 locations. Each device is connected via a Netgear print server. All the workstations print and fax from their desktops. This is a great item in regards to price, functionality and perform
Cons The toner and drum that is provided is pretty worthless. Only lasts a few hundred pages and needs to be replaced.
Summary I use my MFC for copying and faxing for a small law office, and have had it for 8 months. I just love the fact that it is very inexpensive to operate. I have had no troubles with it, so long as I don't try to use the toner cartridge much beyond the "toner low" point (even though it seems to have plenty of toner left). Having had a Brother printer for several years and knowing what a value they are (Consumer Reports said that its sibling (the HL-1440) is the least costly of all laser printers (per copy) to operate, and they use the same toner cartridge, as the MFC. I have not used it for scanning or printing, so I have no basis to compare the other comments regarding these features, or customer service. The MFC user manual offers little advice, but Brother's web site has some useful information to troubleshoot problems. I have not dealt with tech support. I would recommend it to anyone who makes several thousand copies per month and wants a high quality, no frills copier with a fax machine and printer thrown in. I also note that the sheet feeder is very dependable, too (I once thought that only the large copiers had a reliable sheet feeder). I know another attorney who used his MFC for some years with no trouble. My experience is, so far, excellent.
