Pros Great feature set. OK build quality. OK software.
Cons The showstopper is its insane ink usage. You could just as well buy a full set of ink cartridges and throw them directly in the garbage, instead of bothering with installing them in the printer first. Repeat ad nauseam.
Summary I hardly ever use my printer, still it is always out of ink. No exceptions. Even if I just replaced the ink cartridges, somehow magically it manages to be out of ink anyway.
It would have been a very nice printer, but in reality it's a useless piece of garbage.
I'm boycotting Canon from now on. I might consider buying another Canon product some years in the future, but right now, it's out of the question. I just feel like I've been ripped off. Probably because that's exactly what happened.
Pros Nice looking box
Cons The MX 870 is not even a match for my 15 year old HP 722 in print quality and certainly not a match in ease of use.
Summary Suggest you test the printer before wasting money on it.
Pros VERY GOOD PHOTO PRINTS.
4 X INCH PHOTO PRINT IN 20 SECONDS.
9600 X 2400 COLOR DPI.
DUAL PAPER PATHS.
Cons HIGH INK USAGE.
Summary CANON'S MULTI-FUNCTION MP980 HAS SIX INDIVIDUAL INK TANKS PLUS A GRAY INK TANK FOR BLACK AND WHITES.
PRINTS A 4 X 6 INCH PHOTO IN 20 SECONDS.
VERY GOOD PHOTO PRINTS.
VERY GOOD COLOR SCANS.
Pros There are no pros - I have spent 4-5 times more on ink than I did for the printer! I have never been able to link it wirelessly even with my laptop sitting on top of the printer!!! It tells me that the connection is too far away! Scanning and adding do
Cons The worst part is that I have even gone through a full 500 pack of paper since I've owned this printer. The warranty is out, I don't use it enough to have done anything about it. But, I've talked with someone at a basic electronics store and they inform
Summary Canon sucks - I'm glad that with all of my other electronic equipment, I've made better choices. Word to the wise try Kodak, Lexmark, HP, or Dell products - I didn't have any problems with any of those brands.

Pros Nice printer/scanner
Cons Sucks the ink out of you! And its rather large in size, moderately heavy.
Summary When you get a free printer with the purchase of any new computer or camera nowadays, how does anyone make money off of printers? Ink. And this printer is particularly bad on ink for 3 reasons:
1.) It goes through it fast. I've only used it a handful of times and all 5 smaller cartridges are completely out or near it, and even the larger black cartridge is low.
2.) There are 6 cartridges all together. Its a lot of $$$ to replace. Even more because all 6 are never bundled together at a discount, so you need to buy certain ones individually, namely gray.
3.) Because my gray ink cartridge is out, the entire machine is rendered useless. In the past, I would still get something out of the printer. If I was in a bind and my black ink was out, I could change the font color to blue and get my paper printed and handed in on time. It would at least try no matter what. Or like today, when I need to scan something and email it to my boss, I can't because my gray ink is out. What does ink have to do with that? Nothing! Most printers don't even have a gray ink cartridge!
Long of the short, great printer scanner, but don't buy this (or even take it for free like I did) unless you're prepared to spend $ on ink, and have reserves on hand in case your printer decides that it can't function unless it has more gray ink. I refuse to buy ink already, and will be in the market for a new printer researching printers' ink efficiency.
