"Maybe OK printer but setup was horrible, waste of time"1.0 starson by CHRISJMORRISON
Pros: Has great features for the price and includes cartridges.
Cons: Setup - no manual, driver took 4 times to load, no default factory setting to ask which network to connect with, firmware for mobile devices and Air Print not already installed. Small display screen and unfamiliar function buttons. Fingerprints show.
Summary: Setup took me over 2 hours and I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to setting up peripherals and networked items. This should have been "plug and play" but because a network was involved, I figured it could take 15 or 20 minutes tops. Instead I had to reinstall the driver 3 times before it finally worked, because the auto setup did not work. I finally had to open and explore files on the CD before finally finding the one for the driver. When trying to connect to a network, searching for an exsting wireless network is NOT a factory setting so it just connects to the first network it connects with? Because the very non-user friendly display screen does not tell you what network you are on, you have to print it just to tell you the network you are on, which you would only know by going to the web site to read the manual, because they do not include one! So for 15 minutes I thought I was connected to my network. You then have to go into the display screen and change it to "select other kind of network" instead of WPS. Plus even though it says that it works with Air Print and Apple and other mobile devices, the firmware for mobile devices and Air Print are not already installed. This was another 15 minutes. I have printed 3 pages so far and it is OK quality and decent speed, but if I had know setting up would have been this much of a pain just to print from my iphone, I would have stuck with my current printer and forwarded files to my computer!
