"Artisan 810 is a step in the right direction for Epson"
3.5 starson by ervinator65Pros: Easy of setup, Mac friendly, Wi-Fi is VERY easy to setup. Print quality seems to be great, so far
Cons: I have not found any downsides to this printer yet, but it is still relatively new.
Summary: Home office printers have come a long way over the last 5 years, but Epson is raising the bar with its Artisan 810 color, all in one offering. It prints, scans, faxes and it does CDs and DVDs, with a neat little automatic extension unit. I bought the R260 over a year ago to do my DVD and CD printing, but I have had issues with it recently, so I bought this pricey little model...on sale for $199 at Office Max.
Straight out of the box, if you follow the directions, you will have the unit unpacked, initialized and printing in about 30 minutes. That takes into account the included software install, as well as the Wi-Fi setup, which takes a few minutes. Once you are done with the busy work, you can get to the business of printing, scanning and faxing straight away.
Once registered, you have two years' limited warranty from Epson, which is another strong point for me. The cartridges have gotten a bit less expensive, too....so I am smiling. Oh and I also discovered an extra black cartridge in the box....and yes, it belonged there. Thank you, Epson! I think I spent somewhere around $65 (tax included) for a complete set of Epson cartridges, and that is a plus, considering there are a total of 6 of the little buggers in there!
It's definitely a step up, in comparison to my R260 and I am looking forward to (I hope) several good years with this all in wonder! Hats off to Epson.....I think you have something here!
