"Most horrid printer I have owned in 20 years"
0.5 starson by River_womanPros: All in one takes up less space than separate components
Cons: Eternal misfeeds, outrageous ink expense and built in monopoly on HP only ink
Summary: I reluctantly purchased this multi-function machine because I wanted to have faxing capability and at the time Epson was not offering a multi-function with fax. This has been the worst printer I have ever owned, and I have been using computers for about 25 years.
It can not be trusted. By that I mean that you can not print out a 50-page book by printing all the odd pages, then putting the printed pages back in and have it print the even pages on the opposite side. In doing that simple print job it will ALWAYS misfeed, pulling in extra sheets, which of course gets the print job all messed up. I have printed many, many documents and it happens every time. So I have to babysit it or risk wasting reams of paper and lots of ink. Machines are supposed to make our work easier, not create more problems.
Then there is the issue of the ink. Do a search online for this model number and "reset" or ink cartridge error and you will see the horror that is this machine. It often prints out "alignment" pages, far more than needed, which of course uses up ink needlessly. Then to really get it to work you have to purchase the expensive HP cartridges because of internal settings that make it difficult to use remanufactured cartridges.
As with all HP printers that I have used over the years, the ink takes a little too long to dry so if you're too fast to grab the printed page you can easily get a smear.
Save your money and sanity - run from this printer.
