"Design Flaw"on by patyurek
Pros Great printer for a year
Cons Design flaw not fixable by HP
Summary Be very careful if you ever have to change the color cartridge. My printer worked wonderfully until then. There is a very small wire which holds the cartridge in place. This wire is loose and will puncture contacts. Once this happens you can kiss your $500 goodbye because HP will not help you. They won't replace the contacts or acknowledge the design flaw. You will be unable to use any other functions on the machine once this happens. Please call HP when this happens to you. If they get enough feedback perhaps they'll do the honorable thing and recall this product.
Pros Fast printing, Excellent photos and text, Very useful features
Cons Black and White copies are not very sharp and true
Summary I have studied all of the All-In-One printers, (both laser and inkjet) online and in person. I had a difficult time making my decision and hoped that my purchase of the HP OfficeJet 7410 was sound. Well, I can definitely say that this was a very good purchase. The product performs very well and provides me with all of the office functions that I wanted in a very easy and fast way. The quality of the photos, (even without the photo ink cartridge), is VERY good. The flexibility of this printer makes it easy to channel fax and print jobs thru my laptop without having to get up out of my chair. The wireless setup was a breeze...not as others have described on this forum. I was very pleased to find that receiving faxes can be set to be automatic. If you answer the phone or if your answering machine answers the phone and an incoming fax is on its way, the printer takes over and receives the fax. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and recommend this printer to anyone interested in consolidating all of these office functions. Two Thumbs Up !
Pros Excellent print output
Cons Horrible drivers, incorrect on-line and written instructions
Summary Since the only reason to buy this version is for its wireless capabilities, consider this: the HP software rendered my three wireless computers (XP Home/SP2) useless. The only HP fix was to turn on "data execution protection" on svchost.exe via control panel. That made all other wireless activities and Symantic programs inoperable.
The OCR is second or third rate.
Everything works as billed when connected via cat5 cable to (included) network port. Black ink almost twice as expensive as my previous model (HP d145). Wait six months for new drivers before you purchase this one.
Pros Nice blue light for wireless indication
Cons A throw back to the "good ole days". Printer is absolutely incompatible with any know OS. Impossible to setup printer to any versions of Windows without a Master Degree in IT. HP website admits to incompatibility issue with Windows XP SP2, claims fi
Pros Wireless Networking; Two sided printing; Second paper tray; Awesome photo tools
Cons Bulky; User interface is slightly confusing
Summary I love this new printer. We got it for our small business just one week ago, and already our productivity has increased. It keeps my wife happy with it's photo printing capabilities (saved us the 200 for the photo printer). Nobody here has said how easy it is to use the proof sheets to print photos, it's just like filling in bubbles, and it prints the photos you want automatically. The two sided printing also helps my son with his school reports, always earning him extra credit for professionality. The second paper tray also prevents having to refill the printer every other day. The wireless connectivity makes my life a lot easier, now our laptop isn't locked down in one place all the time. The speeds of this thing are amazing also, and it still produces good results. The biggest downside that I found was the size of this printer. We had to buy a printer cart just to put it anywhere instead of on our old shelf. The user interface directly on the printer is also annoying at times, but you can configure using a PC also so that makes it easier. All around GREAT product. If you have the cash, I definately recommend this over any laser or inkjet alternative.
