"A KNOWLEDGEABLE OPINION - EXPERIENCED USER"
4.0 starsonPros: I use the 7310 which is the same as the 7410 without the wireless. It is hooked up to two desktops and one laptop. I run the printer through a d-link wireless router and this unit takes commands from all my computers flawlessly. I found the setup to be ve
Cons: Not having a dedicated photo ink slot.

I have used my 7310 for 3 years with excellent results printing from multiple computers on a LAN. My biggest disappointment is that now that the print cartridge sensing circuit may be damaged, it appears that I will have to replace the printer. I am disappointed that the print cartridge sensing is not repairable and that the non-print functions such as sending faxes, and scanning are unavailable because I can not reset the cartridge error message. Even though I have had good experiences with this unit I am concerned about its durability.

My girlfriend bought this printer...excellent close out price at Office Depot...$199. I followed the simple setup instructions and we were up and running in about 30 minutes. No rocket science here. My McAfee prompt came up, when installing software and I allowed the connection. The wireless setup was very simple. I've got a Netgear router and I was prompted for the WPA password, that I knew from the router setup. I did have an issue w/ the black cartridge. The instructions state to pull the tape off of the cartridge. The color cartridge had a distinct yellow tape, which I pulled off and everything was fine. The black cartridge had a clear tape, which I didn't realize actually belonged on the cartridge. I pulled it off..whoops. Luckily, it's just a starter cartridge, but it was annoying that there was no distinct tape on the black cartridge. The other somewhat annoying thing is the printer is loud and vibrates pretty extreme. I have a monitor, within inches of the printer and when I do print it actually vibrates the desk and the monitor "dances". Overall though, I do like the 2 sided functionality, the ability to scan and the color photos are amazingly detailed. I would buy this again. Don't let them fool you on setup...it's really not that hard.<br><br>Jim

This is a consumer level mass market product. Users should not be having these sorts of problems. I am an experienced user and have seen nothing but problems from my own 7410 and am going to return it and buy a simpler non-multifunction machine.

I'm not an expert, but I do have 19 years experience with personal computers, have built my own systmes, setup my own LAN, etc.<br><br>I have also diligently followed HP's advice on how to "clean" my system and do a re-install. But, theses are Level 1 support folks who are following a script. <br><br>I (and I'm sure many others) would appreciate hearing from you the specifics of how to clean our systems and install this unit. <br><br>Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.

Where do you get a P4 200GHz machine? I've never seen one faster than 3.x GHz. Is is possible that this "KNOWLEDGEABLE OPINION - EXPERIENCED USER" really has a VERY SLOW machine running at 200MHz, NOT 200GHz???

Have worked in Legal tec support for ten years. Lawyers wanted these for small office. All of our techs tried and no one could get them to work using wried, network installation. They will do everything but fax. Have never seen one that would fax a complete page using wired network install, They will work with USB install and wireless install, but not wired. The software in two of four has become corrupted and required reinstall. Must be many "inexperienced" users based on comments
