Pros Full of Features
Cons To many problems
Summary I would love this printer only if it would work. The features and capabilities are excellent. Unfortunately HP did not debug the software and hardware before selling it.
1) Scanner does not scan muliple pages without errors
2) Automatic document feeders misfeed and take two or more papers at times.
3) Paper feed trays also have similar problems
4) 802.11 wireless ethernet is a nightmare. My two laptops do not stay networked. The bi-directional ethernet communication is terrible. The computers are running Vista and HP says this is the source of many problems.
The technical support / warranty is the most frustrating experience of all. I have spent 5-7 of the most frustrating hours with HP tech support in India and they cannot resolve my concerns. Tech support never calls back, I am frequently disconnected during conversations, and call quality is horrible.
No one can make any decisions so I always routed to different people and I have to run through the same maze of troubleshooting menus with multiple people. This makes the warranty worthless in my opinion.
I am on week two with tech support with still no resolution. Trust me, the extra bells and whistles are not worth the headaches. Pass on this product.

Pros Ease of use, user interface, networking, print speed, ink location
Cons Driver software, small photo paper handling
Summary The 7780 with its extra print tray is a super all in one - highly recommended. It has a great and very intuitive user interface and prints well and quickly. Unlike other HP printers you don't have to swap ink when you want to print photos which I think makes this the best all in one currently available.
While the included driver software worked fine for me, I much preferred the "HP Basic Features software/driver - IT Professional Use Only" from the HP web site. It allowed me to easily install the printer driver on all three of my XP machines. The downside of this driver is that some of what I consider to be "fluffy" functions like OCR are not included. There is complete detail on the driver version differences on the HP web site.
It took me a while to figure out how to load small photo paper into the system. I eventually figured out that photo paper only goes in tray 1 and you have to manually adjust the tray paper guides to make it fit. Once adjusted, the printer does an excellent job doing borderless 4x6s, not to mention laser like printing on plain paper even in "normal" mode. I opted for a 2 year warranty since it was inexpensive at purchase time but based on my results so far I don't think I will need it. Ink is somewhat expensive, opt for the "XL" cartridges instead of the standard cartridges. 4 ink cartridges make this more economical than the other HP all in ones.
Pros Print quality is great
Cons Networking is something to be desired
Summary The print quality is great when you get it to print. Could not get scanner and fax setup on a network. I could not scan to a file on my computer could not get Direct Digital Filing for scanning to work could not send a fax from my computer. I could fax and scan from the printer. HP Tech support was not much help.
Thank you for writing back to us and providing us an opportunity to serve you again in this matter. I regret to note that the issue remains unresolved even after performing the recommended steps. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
I understand that there is no Bidirectional communication between All-in-One and the computer. As the full feature All-in-One software is not at released for this model we can not establish the Bidirectional communication.
HP is going to release full feature All-in-One software very soon, after installing the full feature All-in-One software you will be able to resolve the issue.
I truly apologize for the inconvenience caused. I could not believe HP would release a product that would not work as advertised.
They did send me new updated software but that was no help. I wasted a lot of time trying to get all the functions to work. And they still don't work. It’s not worth the money. HP no longer replies to my emails. You can not talk to there tech support on a phone its either IM or email. Very disappointed it was exactly what we were looking for.
Pros Works well as a paper weight
Cons Wireless networking doesn't work and there is nobody to work the issue
Summary Buy the cheaper model 7680. I just got off the phone with HP and there is a known wireless issue that will cause the front panel to "freeze" and will not work until you do a complete reset on the system(which is done by unplugging, press and hold the 6 key and the # key while plugging it back in) and there are no techs working the issue at this time. Their attitude is we will get to it when we can. So I would suggest getting the cheaper model without the built in wireless and buy a wreless router to connect to your network.Give me a break..... First off this is the FOURTH HP printer I have opwned and why I didn't learn after the first time, well I guess that would actually be kudos to the HP sales force. I started out by purchasing a copier scanner no fax, forget the model number, doesn't really matter here. Bottom line I used it for approximatley 30 months and the power adapter went out. Called HP and they talked me into one of those refurb deals, went with it. That printer worked for about another 24 months and it went out. What was wrong with it? Your guess its as good as mine. So I did some research and ended up purchasing another HP. That was my next mistake and it all rolls down hill from here. That printer quit working after about 36 months of use. Called HP waayy over there on the other side of the world. They refused to do anything. Did some more research and got a hold of a CSR here in the States. The talked me into another refurb deal. Now this printer has quit qorking and I have no printheads

Pros Great features, but
Cons Poor quality control
Summary Easy setup, like the ability to scan to on-board SD card. Worked fine for three weeks, then started "printing" six or seven blank sheets of paper, and telling me that it was out of paper (both trays were stocked).
This is the second HP printer I've bought that I've had to replace within a month of purchase. Kudos to Staples, who gave me a replacement both times.
