"No more for me"on by nHuman
Pros looks nice, prints well
Cons expensive ink; printer assistant installed itself twice -- so it would bug me twice about everything
Summary I thought I had it bad when it printed intermittently. I realize now those were the good ol days. Now it won't work at all. Reason...the dreaded "ink system failure." This design should never have left the drawing board. Of course when I checked on warranty coverage... it expired back in March.
All is not lost though. My cat has since discovered that it makes a great cat bed. It's the only reason I haven't junked it. I actually have a 10 year old HP printer that still works; the print quality sucks, but at least it works.
The worst part is that it failed me when I needed it most. I was just about to print out some new product brochures.
They really don't make 'em like they used to...
Pros Looks good, easy for me to install, wireless worked fine.
Cons Serious problem with ink use, indicator level and functionality when it 'says' it's low. Totally a waste of money. Response from HP was pathetic. Will never buy another HP product.
Summary I do a lot of color printing. I am an artist and an art teacher. I've used a lot of inkjet printers, including HP Photosmart printers. I've been using inkjets since they were first available. With this printer I get perhaps 10 good color prints, and then a low ink warning. I've reported this to HP and they send me the number 'tests' have shown that I should get. Duh - that doesn't help me much. I bought my cartridges from HP also. When they say the ink gets low, the printer starts to malfunction also, and I waste huge amounts of time trying to figure out whats wrong.
I belong to 'Freecycle' but will not even give this printer away because I don't think anyone should have to deal with it. The first 3 or 4 months it was not quite so bad but has gotten progressively worse over the last few months. I have read many reviews like mine and think HP is going to be in big trouble if products like this represent the company.
Pros Nice design & print quality.
Cons Super loud, drinks ink, out of order after 14 months of use
Summary My print options are set up to black ink only but somehow I keep changing color cartridges all the time. It is very loud, it shakes while adjusting (every time you turn it on). Ink System Failure error - nobody could help me with it, after cleaning printheads I called HP support and all I got was a discount offer on the purchase of next HP printer. I don't think so, I spent $300 on a printer that lasted 14 months? I'm going with Lexmark this time, at least they offer 3 year warranty.
Pros size, ease, features, easy wireless set up
Cons erratic performance, frequent error codes, fatal failure not long after replacing ink cartridges (w/HP products). No help from HP after repeated request. Less than 1 years of very light use. Worst product ever purchased.
Summary erratic performance, frequent error codes, fatal failure not long after replacing ink cartridges (w/HP products). No help from HP after repeated request. Less than 1 years of very light use. Worst product ever purchased and certainly makes it unlikely I will ever buy another HP printer after having had several before of fair to good product. Mainly disappointed in lack of HP response to what is clearly a design or manufacturing eror. This "ink system failure" is all over the internet with no apparent solution. Don't BUY!
Pros I liked the print quality for regular copy work and photos
Cons after changing a print cartridge (always used genuine HP) the printer displayed "Ink System Failure". I went through every written instruction on the HP website and also had HP tech email help. Problem could not be solved.
Summary This printer disappointed me more than any I have owned. After just 11 months it is nothing more than a large paperweight. I will pass by any HP products in the future.
